Amazon: Your experiences.
Like many of us here, I expect, I buy a fair amount of stuff from Amazon. Mainly for convenience. Last night I ordered several items which were all in stock. Today I came home to an email saying Good news. We can deliver some of your items quicker than originally expected. Instead of a month I will get them in two weeks. WTF! How can that be right. Two weeks. Now in all this time I've only ever had three problems with anything I've bought and two of those were from Amazon warehouse. Anyone else ever had problems.
BTW. Ebay. Three minor quibbles in 800+ purchases.

I've noticed in recent months that you had to start playing games with accounts, searches, and browser cookies to get certain items and prices on Amazon. I found some art supplies that was available to "Prime members only". Clearing my browser cookies (though logging out of my Amazon account might have also worked) and searching for the exact same item on Google brought up a link that allowed me to then log into Amazon and purchase the good at the same price. I guess Amazon & Google have some sort of dystopian search kickback. Anyway, there seems to be a push by Amazon on this Prime ripoff. I try to use eBay when I can myself, and I have been able to avoid the Prime maw to this point.
Ironically, when walmart.com reduced their free shipping threshold to $25, Amazon matched it after years at $35 & $49. It's hard to find someone to root for in that contest. I still do get stuff from Amazon, and while shipping has gotten slower (1-2 weeks), I don't get 1 month shipping times. You may then be running into actual shipping issues with your item. Another trick I use is to check side-seller options, that don't use "Fulfilled by Amazon". It's like eBay except you're using Amazon's payments system. In those cases, I often get good shipping times to extremely fast shipping times, but you may pay extra, in terms of the total cost of the item (price + shipping). And I'm not the only one sick of the Prime push. They're getting government attention, even during these times. Some investors are even shorting AMZN: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/ama...-it-2017-07-13 A couple of more disturbing articles about Amazon's push of Prime, especially in regards to its Whole Foods purchase: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/...b06bb7d2731cba https://www.theatlantic.com/business...-foods/530652/ |

I would say that 99% of my purchases on Amazon have been hassle-free. That's Amazon itself and Amazon Marketplace.
There was a period a few years ago when they started using Amazon Logistics as couriers. The service was really shoddy and elicited a lot of complaints, but it seems to have improved since then. I don't use Amazon Prime, it's not worth it to me just for the promise of slightly faster delivery. Delivery times vary, but most things come within a week if they're in stock. One thing I've noticed recently is that Amazon are now frequently undercut on price, especially on things like books, so a lot of the things I buy are on Marketplace, with delivery times depending on the seller. It used to be that things had to be sent within two working days but I think that's been relaxed now. There seems to be a wide delivery window these days, but things usually come quite quickly.

Well three of my five purchases have just been delivered by a very attractive young lady. Under two days since ordering and choosing free delivery. Still wait to see if my other items take the long time specified. Got a box set of Hamilton Prestige for £6 less than they'd cost in B and Q.

With a gun to my head I still wouldn't sign up to Prime
It`s been trouble free for me , provided I used Amazon as the seller.
Although would love to give another reliable (Less Fascistic towards it`s employees) company me money instead where possible. So shall check out Marketplace that gordian mentioned Have had issues with a couple independent sellers not sending what I`d ordered from Amazon. One claimed I did have it as the delivery chap have left it in my shed. When I don't even have a shed Aside from that and another particularly barmy gimp who sent me a freaky looking Aunt May (Who knew ) doll then took ages to refund. It`s mainly been alright-ish with independent sellers too. Yes they actually made an Aunt May doll. This is what I had paid for though. But haven't got Huh , what do you mean I should grow up Never I tell`eeee , never

Good news then Max. Amazon have some cheap sheds, though I don't know where they'd leave one if you're not in.
Just noticed Resident Evil Revelations 2 is only £13 at the moment but as I'd like to play it this year I don't know if I'll order it.
