Quite right, blondifan. My particular "beef" Has been about all the drugs and antibiotics that livestock has been given. Drug companies are always looking for more powerful antibiotics, because we have built a resistance to the older ones we used in the past. I studied chemistry and some pharmacy, having worked in my brother's pharmacy when I was younger. The older drugs, like sulfa drugs, and then ampicillin and tetracycline have fallen to the wayside, (though still used), because of newer stronger drugs like clindamycin. It seems we have built an immunity to the older drugs. Why? Because we eat them all the time. All the cattle, pigs, chickens, and such are fed antibiotics and we have been eating them all along, so now we're full of antibiotics and our bodies are immune to them. So, we have no natural defenses anymore. (Which, of course, is just beautiful for the drug companies). Once again, it's greed. Forget about health, let's go for the money.

Couldn't agree more brain.
Greed often seems to coincide with the quick 'easy' fix, which time and time again has proven to be anything but easy in the long term.

Two examples of a rural nature that spring to mind.

One is the use of DDT pesticide. DDT is a persistent organic pollutant that is extremely hydrophobic and strongly absorbed by soils. Depending on conditions, its soil half life can range from 22 days to 30 years.

DDT decimated wildlife/birdlife populations and is thought to be carcinogenic.
Fortunately Australia stopped using it in 1987.

Another would be the the introduction of Cane toads in Northern Queensland (Aus) to control beetles in sugar cane crops. They failed to do so.
The cane toad has poison glands, and the tadpoles are highly toxic to most animals if ingested.
They are now widespread across the North and North East of the Australian Continent.

By the way I just found out that a genitically modified Canola (used in marjorine) crop was recently trialed here.

The way people complain about things on tv or radio ,days or weeks afterward.Either they never saw or heard the offending item or they did and thought nothing of it until someone else did and they jumped on the bandwagon.

Yes inconsiderate neighbours abound alright .The night before last i had to take matters into my own hands (No not in that way , and both hands ?, i wish ) , by banging on my downstairs neighbours door due to them beginning to play unreasonably loud mu-sick at 12.11am !.

They didn`t answer , and after my first three hard bangs (Again , i wish) i even thought they turned the volume up. So i let rip with a boxing special and threw a couple dozen slammers into their door . They turned the music off then sure enough , which was good because it meant they could hear the full force of my " For FLIPS sake " parting remark.

Only drawback is i hurt two of the knuckles on my right hand (Bye bye sex life , yeah etc etc ) undercutting their door . Plus casually glancing at it next afternoon it looked like i may have splintered the middle part of the door itself . Still i`m not paying for damages , anyway all three of them were so whacked out of their minds that night they probably won`t remember who did what . Well that`s what i`m counting on as it`s been two days now and no bill has arrived . Anyway if it does turn up i`ll just follow the example of mien leader , when obviously guilty deny deny deny

Actually deciding upon whether to take me another move , thinking of the west country this time maybe. Might try Dartmouth , have to see where things stand after this year.
