Facebook buggering, anyone else annoyed?
I am not in Facebook. I deliberately choose to stay out of it.
Now it seems more and more corporates are arranging their competitions & such on Facebook. It's like they forgot they have their own homepages too? It is funny that you can only participate via FB, while only 40% of people active on the net actually have a FB account. It is more and more annoying each day. The worst is that I even get an email from FB stating that someone wants to be my friend. So far it has been OK in the sense that these people really are my friends - exept that there is no return address and no contact details; I have no way of telling these people alternate ways of communicating. Any of you fellows run into the same situation? EDIT: Even VEF has trackers on (Ghostery finds FB social plugins), so beware all you who use FB - they know you are HERE!

Right Thing @ Right Time
Facebook is free. It is like Windows or Apple. They are the avenues that are available. They are networks. Some will go out of business, and we will be taken to the next phase, just like video rental stores, etc.

I can take or leave it
Unfortunately , last time i tried to leave it - I found it took over 4 weeks to dissolve the account by then I needed to stay in touch with family & friends who Do use it But now my sis (who is a fb posting maniac) has found my page ... I find that using a blind eye or completely staying away is the best option anyway, just viewing friends pages occasionally |

Despite the fact I have several friends (real, live, breathing friends that I can see face-to-face) and family on Facebook, I am utterly disinterested in joining. Occasionally, I get an e-mail from "Facebook" saying that someone is "friending" me, or there's a problem with my account. These a-holes think everyone is so stupid that an e-mail sent to my spam folder is going to make me believe that something is wrong.
What annoys me is NFL.com won't let me post comments on articles there, unless I'm logged in to some stupid "social" media site. Hey, I'm logged into NFL.com, isn't that enough?

Funny how people once cared a lot to keep their privacy. Now they're exposing themselves voluntarily on a daily basis. Facebook also partially replaced real-life relationships. People rather communicate via Facebook than having a face-to-face conversation. If you don't "like" a friend's status or picture, he/she might feel offended. When a friend of mine asks me to hit a pub and have a few pints, he posts on my wall. Can't he just call me? The problem with Facebook is its time-consuming character. If you stay away from it for some time, meaning you won't be "liking" statuses, pictures or answering messages, your friends will be pissed off or even remove you. Those same people who expect your responsibility on a social network barely call you to ask how you're doing. Facebook is not the way how true friendships and family relationships are kept alive. The argument for creating an account to get in touch with old friends and relatives is not a valid one. I don't remember these people asking about me or trying to find out my number for years. All of a sudden they expect you to add them on Facebook. Although not frequently, I use Facebook for information on music, politics and other topics I'm interested in.

I've no problem with anyone who uses fb to tell the world that the last cup of coffee they had was 'Genius'
for me, it's the twants who run it, for example , as tygrkhat40 said, they think you'd be that naive to even consider you are missing-out on something Incidently, I don't know or understand how anyone can attempt to 'Friend' you if you aren't on their register |

I'm not on facebook because you can't delete your account and I don't want pics of me floating around in cyberspace for all eternity. Once they're out there, there's nothing you can do about it. I regularly get requests to remove pics from the Amateurs thread by people who've made that mistake.
Facebook and Google Analytics are the biggest trackers of your online activity. My FireFox browser has the DoNotTrackPlus add-on that is blocking them as I write.
