WOW! Thank you all for these. I have a special connection to this lovely lady from long, long ago (the screen goes wavy as the flashback tale begins...)

San Francisco in the late 1980s through the late 1990s was a different city than it is today. It was much cleaner, much safer, much more sane, and generally more relaxed about everything. The first dot-com boom-and-bust had not yet happened, the homeless issue had not yet exploded, the place took itself much less seriously, and local politics, though somewhat crazy, were not so strident and militant as they are today. It all added up to make the city a fun, chill, interesting, and exciting place to be.

The mayor, the DA, and the PD all turned a bit of a blind eye to some of the goings on in the adult world so long as the participants weren't too obvious about it. Pay-for-play was easily available through a series of adult newspapers (The Spectator and others) and even in the classified ads of the regular dailies (the SF Chronicle, the Oakland Tribune, and the Marin IJ among them) under the benign heading of "Massage". Those pre-internet days were the last echoes of the wild, wild west.

This relaxed attitude extended to the various strip clubs. Places like the notorious Mitchell Brothers' O'Farrell Theater, the New Century, the Market Street Cinema, and the Crazy Horse thrived. (Note that these were not "gentlemen's clubs" as the laws at the time did not allow full nudity where alcohol was served, so these were simply places to see live nude girls.)

All of these offered stage dancers and lap dancing from large rosters of ladies, as well as frequent feature dancers. Each had a different vibe and experience, the Mitchell Bros. being the top of the heap with several different stages/show rooms and the more attractive ladies. The others were located in converted movie palaces with a single large stage and theater seating, and the Market Street Cinema was, in my experience, the least...ahem...elegant of the bunch. But it was also the most permissive.

You see, some of these places had back rooms and/or booths where all manner of things could be accomplished between consenting adults who had reached a mutually satisfactory agreement of exchange. Or so I have heard. The Market Street Cinema (MSC) had a separate back area behind the main stage, with perhaps 15 or 20 curtained booths for private lap dances. And what happened in these booths stayed in these booths...usually on the floor for the poor attendant to clean up...

To bring it all back to the gorgeous creature in this thread...Tigra was a dancer at the MSC during those halcyon days. That amazing body made her quite popular, and her stage shows were always well-attended. She was in high demand for the private shows as well, and I was the lucky recipient of a few of them. She did something that no other dancer there did, and it was magnificent. I will cherish those memories (and those mammaries) to my dying day. To top it off, she was a nice person, very humble and grounded, with a good sense of humor about the whole enterprise. I hope she was able to hang onto that.

Over time the scene became less permissive, the clubs began charging the dancers fees for the booths (which were passed on to the joh...er, customers) and the political winds shifted. In particular, Deja Vu moved into town and lobbied to get their competition closed down. Palms were greased, some raids took place, and before long those in power were shocked...SHOCKED! to learn there was hanky-panky going on in the booths. The MSC was the first to go, and just last year the Mitchell Bros closed its doors. The other two remain, though without the same "anything goes" essence that made those days so memorable.
