Does anyone remember a schools programme(yes you read that right) about a girl who wants to become a page 3 girl. The blonde girl was actress and part-time ventriloquist Jenny Jay and it was broadcast around the early 80's-possibly 1983/4 and it was shown on BBC2. Obviously there wasn't any nudity but for sanity's sake does anyone have anything on this-its a long shot. Thanks in advance.

Jenny Jay (real name Jennifer Bolton) indeed had the main role opposite Kathy Burke in "This Year's Model", a segment of the "Scene" series of made-for-schools dramas.

Following on from Greenman's schools programme request. Anyone recall a six part series called "Starting Out" which was on Channel 4 in the early 1990s.The reason I watched and taped (long gone) some of episodes was a cute blonde who had a part in it. On checking the credits her name was Samantha Janus; first time I saw her on television. None of her career listings make any reference to it.

Another thing about this "schools programme" was that it did have a nude scene; a brief glimpse through an open shower door. The actress was Gillian Oman who appeared in the Irish soap "Fair City" later on.

Long shot most likely but does anyone have the scene?

Thanks. It was called "Starting Out". Problem is BFI lists a number of school programme series with this name from around the period. The most likely canidate is this one http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/series/24650 but it gives no details.

I'm pretty sure 'Starting Out' was screened some time between '82 and '84.
I don't remember Samantha Janus in it unless she was the youngest daughter.
I'm almost certain 'Tosh Lines' from 'the Bill' was the dad. Someone Lloyd who's brother was Terry Lloyd (the reporter) who got killed in Iraq. I think Carole Chell was the mum, but I watched for the older sister. She was Amanda Noar, she was briefly married to Neil Morrissey and has a baby with him and she starred in a film with him called 'I Bought A Vampire Motorcycle' Sounds a bit garbled I know. Anyway Amanda Noar had a few risque scenes in it and I'm sure was topless but covered in one scene.

The "Starting Out" with Amanda Noar is listed for 1986.The one I'm after is from about 91-92. Samantha looked about eighteen in it. The reason I had the tape for a number of years was because I thought the brief nude scene broadcast mid-morning was unusual. My interest in it was rekindled after seeing a quote from the actress Gillian Oman who did the short nude shower scene. In the quote she names the series as "Starting Out" and that she did it during her final year at drama college.
