new web-browser google chrome
Just seen google have launched their competition to IE
still in beta but from what I can see its one of the quickest loaders of pages using the least amount of resources...at least thats my experience over the past hour It has a few gliches(not recognising 3rd party software installed on the PC) but thats to be expected with any beta version Anyone else tested it? http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/n...9-5296b587f4ad |

speed tests vs firefox3.1 & IE8
http://lifehacker.com/5044668/beta-b...ich-is-fastest
Looks like its not all that clear cut if you've got a decent computer with enough grunt As for the privacy issues I believe that all browsers snoop regardless of what they write in the terms of conditions/agreements.If they dont, count on someone inside the company with access to the info selling it for the right price http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/main.htm Edit Just downloaded 2 rapidshare rar files 200mb total and the speed said it was double the reported 50k for free users...interesting....browser crashed half way through and lost entire first download another gliche Last edited by buttsie; September 4th, 2008 at 10:59 PM.. There's no need for me to switch to any other browser as long as I can use Firefox and its addons.

I'll try it when they design a Mac OS 9-friendly version...
(LOL and I'm not kidding... I'm still using Netscape Communicator 4.5 : it's old, ugly, probably slow *but* it's totally ad, pop-up & virtual bullshit-FREE!). PS : don't forget Google and the NSA walk hand in hand... http://www.google-watch.org/jobad.html Last edited by Albert Mudat; September 5th, 2008 at 10:18 PM.. |

Ummm, you do know that XP pretty much requires 512 MB all for itself. If you stick a bit more RAM in that 1.8 you'll notice a good boost in performance. RAM is fairly inexpensive nowadays so it would really be worth the few bucks. I have an old 1.0 GHz AMD with 1 GB of RAM and XP Home that chugs along just fine on the internet. |

I'm aware of that...have thought about maxing out the RAm to 1.5Gb but as it is I only surf the net so Kind of a waste of money
Funny thing is the secuirty ridden browser that is IE seems happy on just 256ram Privacy & security isnt a real issue for me as i never say anything online/in emails orkeep anything on my PC that would be of use to anyone |

I think you miss the point about computer security nowadays on private computers. Very few people nowadays have any info on their personal machines that is worth much to hackers/spammers. What they're after is your bandwidth (if you're on DSL or cable).
