I have to upload the original downloads if I am able to find it and upload them with Imagevenue. So I will do all of that stuff myself. I don't know how to do differently.

I have a message for other members who posted PB pics : I have a PB account and I can download any set I want. So the members who have Pb sets downloaded with Imagebam can send me a Pm and I can upload the set with Imagevenue. Just tell me the name of the set or just quote the post you wanted. Regards.

Hey I don't want to be the voice of doom, but I think a lot of us are going to be Fcuked, with a capital "F"!
I refer to members such as myself who are not as computer savvy as some other members are, who only possess enough knowledge and ability to upload and post pics here at VEF -- but when it comes to copying, downloading and/or transferring one's files/images to another host that's where i/we fall off the train! If you ask me, I think perhaps those hosts who are shutting down should first find and transfer all their existing images, files, or whatever they are called to another image host before pulling the plug instead of leaving everyone high and dry! As a suggestion, I would be willing to pay a nominal yearly fee to an image host of perhaps $15-$20/year to host pics/images. I think it would be worth it considering how many pics one would post in one year's time -- and if it would help keep the host from going belly up!

Alternative imagehosters: -Imagevenue is popular - but only jpgs and 2 MB filesize. I you wan to fix your galleries and pic is bigger than 2MB - you are fucked. Didn't use it because of limit and filetype restrictions. -pixxxels also 2MB restriction Found this hoster: turboimagehost.com 10 mb filesize, no filetype restrictions, good speed, creates BB code, 100x100 and 150x150 thumbnails. Pretty decent and not much different to imagebam. Fixing the situation: All Posters should be informed that they have to fix their posts. It would be possible for siteowner/admins to get all imagebam links from the database and then run them through a script that downloads everything. That wouldn't help though - as it would lead to gazillion pics without context. But one could rename them and organize them in folders. Folder=ThreadID Picname: ThreadID_PostID and then dump it on a cheap server and everything would have been saved for now. Makes the SQL a little bit more sophisticated but still pretty easy - even if you are not in IT. Then provide access via FTP or different protocoll to all users (read only). Members could fix it in the upcoming time. Not in one month like now but in the next year or so. Don't know how much data there is though. I get 5TB in Germany for about 35.-€ a month. A little bit more as you need more features as those offers never work like that ,but let it be 50€ a month or 100€ for 10 TB. Maybe even more but there would be also other options. Shouldn't be much given the size of VEF - and there would also be options like patreon, donations and so on to finance it. Quite often those kickstarter projects lead to more money than actually needed. So site owners could even benefit and actually make money. With donations and so on a couple of thousand dollars should be possible - which should be enough to store all pics at least for the next 12 month. Fixing stuff would be easy manually then. Check thread ID and PostID where pics are missing - check the FTP/WebDAV or whatever and download them. Fix you own posts or quote other posts with missing and upload pics again to another hoster. This should only be one SQL + maybe some simple parsing. Download is just a "for each" and a wget in linux. Java or other languages would also work.
