Yes he was Professor Simon Peach who had a fetish for large women, but also don't forget he was the Toymaker in "Chitty Chitty, Bang Bang." Funny he still reminded me of Fred Scuttle.

When Benny's British TV contract wasn't renewed, an American producer signed him to a contract to do programs for the American market. He was still enormously popular in the US. He did manage to produce one show, but he died shortly after. It was a great loss. He was a very talented, very funny man.

True. And found among his papers when he died, was a contract from Britain's Central Television to do some more shows. Who knows what might have happened, had he taken better care of himself.

Am I right in saying there is no evidence Benny was ever in a relationship with a woman. If that was the case, I find it odd that someone whose shows features scantily clad women and saucy humour seemed to have no interests in relationships with women in his private life and he seemed asexual.

Cherry Gilham, on the show about his missing millions, said that she would go round to see Benny and relieve him of his frustration-I read that as a blow job-she practically confessed it, so I can't believe he was gay however, I think he was just shy and what you saw on screen was not his real persona-he could get away with things in character that he wouldn't do in real life-well he'd be arrested for one, but I doubt very much he was asexual.

With pleasure. About ten years ago, someone asked a question in a newsgroup (remember those?) about Benny Hill. I looked up the answer, posted it, and added a PS: "Does anyone know what happened to my favorite Angel, Sue Upton?"

I got an email response from Sue's friend Ian Freeman (www.ianfreeman.com), a free-lance journalist and PR consultant. He wrote, "Dear Erik, I'm a trustee of Sue's favorite charity. She's alive, well and healthy, and sends her love."

Now I know that's just an expression, but still, I said, "Wow!" I wrote back to Ian, telling him I had a trip to England planned for the near future, and asking him if Sue would care to join me for lunch. He replied to say she'd accepted, and that he'd come along as well.

The three of us hit it off right away. (The pub landlord made us hang it up again, but there you are.) On my first visit, I asked Sue if I could set up a fan website about her life and career. She accepted, and we met for the second time about one month after the site went live. We met at the bar of the Savoy Hotel in London (where we'd "gone for an estimate on a gin and tonic," as Benny put it). Ian and I had arrived and were waiting for Sue. She came in, saw me, and said, "There you are, you clever boy!" I've decided that will be the title for my memoirs.

Since then, Sue and I have become friends, to my great delight: she's a beautiful person on the inside, as well as on the outside. We've met for lunch or dinner on each of my visits to the UK, but this was the first time I'd ever been invited to her home. She was wonderful company, and the time flashed by in an instant, as it does whenever I see her.

Sue writes to me from time to time. She doesn't much like typing, so she writes a letter by hand, scans it, and attaches the scan to a blank email. I've suggested she should patent this means of communication and call it an "Uptongram."

No thank you mate, she was one of my favourites too, a beautiful blonde and she also had two gorgeous little kids who appeared and yet somehow Benny completely ignored them and her in his will, yet he always said she was one of his best friends-funny eh! I liked her SuperGran character but it is odd that she never really appeared in anything else other than the Benny Hill Show first as a Hill's Angel and then getting main parts and characters. One memorable sketch was the Psycho-style shower scene when they were attacked by lights and the television. Sue is having a shower and at one point I am sure I caught sight of a very quick boob flash!!
