The concept of rounds is Anglo. If the State owned all the distilleries, the State could pay for the rounds. It worked for us for decades

Were those the same decades during which the state pretended to pay people, while those people in return pretended to work?

Default off-topic, but similar?

Seeing as I'm already off-topic, related to the above pseudo-quote is this one:

"Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it's just the opposite."

That quote's often attributed to John Kenneth Galbraith, but apparently he termed it an "old Polish joke".

Sorry, back to the beer & funny accents now, innit?

Hehehe!

I think those words came from Germany, originally

But one opinion I read about "rounds" is interesting, and it comes from England. It goes that Englishmen/Anglos would kill each other more often if they didn't buy rounds

It says they disagree so much that only buying each other drinks preserves peace

I hope this is read with humor

Showdown, Sept 7th

That's the date I'll be voting for the Liberal Party

Rudd's honeymoon period is over, he knows it and has brought the election date forward a week as previously announced by me beloved Juliar

So far Rudd's pissed me off twice, so far
Sending asylum seekes too New Guinea... Great and gutless move palming the problem off too a 3rd world country, nice

Company car leasing and fringe benefits tax reporting Want's too raise more tax revenue too bring their broken promise of bringing the budget back inot the black by 2013 now too 2016 Only new car sales will fall, so new car tax revenue will fall, apart from making harder for the remainder of the car industry too survive I love it how when that was announced they typically use words like "fairer". That appeals too the non thinker who can't or wont look at a bigger picture.

Oh and

Get's too leave Parliament for good Serves her right for makin' a deal with the devil (Greens) in 2010

Interesting thing . . . Oz is full of deadly critters -- the jellyfish really freak me out, for example.

But the only thing that really seems to bother locals are crocodiles. Walking on the bech with friends, came to an estuary; these folks who are fearless with snakes. spiders, al the biters and stingers in the sea . . . Were not at all happy at crossing muddy salt water.

You forgot to acknowledge the role the fair and unbiased reporting of the Murdoch owned press had in helping you formulate your totally erroneous opinions.

Gidday mates.

So if a person were to visit Australia, say in a few weeks, and fly into Sydney but wanted to go to other places instead of hanging out in Sydney the entire time? Is it advisable to rent a car? Are there high speed trains going to Victoria or is it easier and cheaper to fly? Is there public transport that makes getting around completely unnecessary. Fodor's doesn't seem to address this in my version.

Sorry Mate,
The High Speed Train has been a topic for years and is still just that a Topic..
In fact the Powers that Be can't even agree to build a HST system from Sydney to Canberra, less than 350km, go figure..
Flights between Sydney and Melbourne are often and fairly cheap if you shop around, (Qantas & Virgin are my Picks),
[Not Tiger Air, Grrr]..
Though if you have the time and are comfortable driving on the Left hand [RIGHT] side of the road, I would recomend the drive. Sydney to Melbourne is around a 10hr drive on pretty much Freeway most of the way. I have found Thrifty Car Rentals to be the best of the bunch with good deals for 3 day or weekly car hire, they provide good quality late model sedans and SUV's.

Mate if you PM me I will be more than happy to give you some ideas for an enjoyable drive tween the two main cities, (I'm based in NSW but lived in Canberra till recently)... MMmm though I did get lost going to the local shop yesterday.
Anyway the offers there and enjoy your trip to OZ..

Proposed High Speed Train..

Thrifty's Best..

Qantas Upgrade..
