Only thing I've notice with Firefox before I took my account last year was a mention to disable adblock before getting access to a file, but I just said "the hell with it 20 or so dollar a year isn't the end of the world".

I just tried with Opera, no extensions, VPN or blockers, it used to work great but now I get the same 'subscribe' loop, no matter how many times I try. This also goes for Firefox. In Chrome I am signed in as premium member so there is no problem there but as a free user I can't even download my own files. Might have to do with location??

If this is what you are seeing:
Click the "X" in the top right corner to close it and then click download. That window does show up for me every time as a free user but all I have to do is close it to download the file as normal.

https://1fichier.com/?lhwuxqhtm7vufc5xomln Edit: just did a fresh install of Firefox ESR and I had no problems downloading a file as free user. My previous/normal FF install gave me the same 'subscribe loop' as Opera

As for me (free user), I can only download 1fichier with Microsoft Edge (Win10 1903), a browser I never use but installed by default with Win10.
With FF or Maxthon, I have the subscribe loop too |

Like I said, I tried with Opera (latest up to date version) and after I close the screen I get the download button. I have VPN running with Opera also.
Sorry I can't troubleshoot what works for me.

I'm starting to think this is a local machine/system issue. No 2 computers are identical, even if you build 2 machines with identical hardware and install the exact same OS they will still be different. I had a similar issue with an auction site a while ago, couldn't get in on desktop but had no problems getting in on my win 10 tablet. So the 1fichier problems are probably related to the user's computer, its settings, installed software and plugins, browser cache, temp files, you name it, lots of factors that could influence performance. It's the only reasonable explanation that I can come up with.
