Default "The Indoor League" - With Freddie Trueman

Does anyone here remember that little gem, the 'indoor league' with Freddie Trueman, which was broadcast on ITV in the mid 70s?

'Yorkshire cricketing legend' - as I'm obliged to call him Freddie Trueman used to introduce a show full of strange and arcane little 'pub sports' such as arm-wresting, shove ha'penny etc which was, trangely, broadcast on weekday lunch-times.
I only remember this because whilst a junior school, I used to go home for dinner, was common practice then, (school meals wre simply inedible), and after Pitkins and before the news this bizarre little show with its bizarre theme tune came on air, whilst I was munching through my sandwiches.

Ha! Ha! Ha! I was exactly the same mate, what a bolt from the blue "I'll se the!" he used to say; took me years as a school boy to understand what the hell he meant.

Brilliant post!

Oh yes, I remember Indoor League- funnily enough I used to go home for lunch at school as well, (I lived within sight of the school I went to- just across the road, never had any excuse for being late!)

There are a quite a few clips on YouTube;

Can you imagine anything like it getting on TV now? The 70's really were a different world....

Bit before my time, (born in 79) still, it's a wonder what ITV used to be, before it became the corporate conglomerate it is today.

Fred hammed up the Yorkshire accent a bit too much. He was a Scarborough lad but the producers wanted him to talk in Barnsley.

Fred was from Stainton in South Yorkshire, a lot closer to Barnsley than Scarborough!
