Default What happened to the Pin-up???? [MOVED]

If somebody could enlighten me here , that would be great. How did we go from the old girlie mags (pretty smiling women) to a pin up girl basically being tattooed , pierced, a scowling goth? For every one good looking girl in modern pin up there are 50 emo chicks. When did this happen? Was it the fact the pin up died out and was resurrected by a certain "type" of person?

Any enlightenment on this tragedy would be great.

I'm glad I'm not alone in this sentiment. Others are entitled to their wants but, maybe because I'm old and raised in a different era, I yearn for the time when it was a thrill to see a pretty girl in her undies or perhaps catch a glimpse of her bare bottom or breasts in a film or magazine instead
of, as now, everything being put on display in anatomical detail.

As a former photographer, I now ignore photo model sites, as tats and piercings seem to be the order of the day. If that's what photographers demand, the models will fulfil the need.

I totally agree, tats and piercings seem to be the curse of this era, the beauty of the female body is ruined by that useless uglyness (imho of course)

The tragedy is a wider one, imho. In the last 40 years all the natural aspects of living have been attacked, and the “spiritual” nature of humankind (of course materialists will disagree, but I don’t want to argue, I respect all opinions) in particular. We all are here because we are, willing or not, witnesses of a spell of the beauty of the female body which is someway not explainable, yes, they tell us that the beauty derives mainly by Phidias’ rules of proportion, but then there is something more, a glance from a woman… well, what’s that? Can we tell the differences from an overtattoed lady and this one's glance?:

Yes, I think we can very well.
And how all this has happened? With cultural models-shifting operations of propaganda like this evil one in which a tattoed Audrey Hepburn is tattooing a tattooed Marylin Monroe:

The human nature is more and more shifting towards a below-animal nature, almost as we were just “things”, “commodities”.
A strange place is this website where thinking these considerations… anyway this is my humble opinion.

I grow up in the 80s (child) and 90s (young adult).
When I was a kid, tattos only had prison guys and seamans (in my opinion).
In the mid 90 the girls in the discos begann to had one tatoo, some began to have piercings. We guys liked that at the girs (we were young). I remember, that the tatoos were more a girls phenomenon that time. Many girls had one.
In this time, in my opinion, tatoos (and piercings) began to get mainstream.
I think today tatoos and piercings are not seen different than earrings or necklace.
