I guess it was in 1995 or so. My aunt asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I didn't like that kind of chidlish questions since I was aready in my 20s. As a hardcore metal fan, I finally told her that she could by me an album from Fear Factory, an american metal band. She said yes.
When Christmas came, everybody was celebrating at home and my aunt gave me her present for me. It was an album from Fun Factory, a german dance music band.

What I wanted :

But I did once get a crap model kit for my birthday. It was a figure of Lord Baden-Powell for ****'s sake!

(P.S. Greenman - Do you remember Airfix "Beta Builder"? It was more authentic for making houses. Smaller bricks, details and proper interlocking roof tiles.)
I prefer Enoch Powell myself.

I have never been what you would call a Designer Label wearer, instead prefering non-descript cheaper brands of clothing & usually a Motorhead t-shirt or similar. Went round to my mums one Christmas day & she gave me a blindingly white sweatshirt with the FILA logo in massive red letters on the front. I actually said "What the fuck is this?" which was very wrong of me I know but I was staggered that she even thought it would be the kind of thing I'd wear. Next year I got record vouchers by prior agreement.

Many years ago while I was married we exchanged Christmas gifts with my wife's brother and his wife. We didn't have a lot of money. We gave them a home fire extinguisher, something every home should have. Certainly a very useful, practical gift. The brother-in-law/wife gave us a large canister of stale popcorn. Not a lot of thought went into that one. Like zero.

For Christmas, my 94 year old grandmother, who was getting a little confused by now, gave me a pack of dishcloths and a bar of soap!! I was 15 at the time, and still get reminded of this every bloody year.
