Windows Movie Maker crashes/freezes - Page 2

I had the same problem too. The answer for me was to ONLY use .AVI files and JPEG pictures.
Convert them BEFORE you use them/edit them in WMM. I havent had any problem since I started doing that.

Well you won't believe it but I managed to fix it-I followed yet another link and reinstalled it but also removed TWO programs which I suspected was making it crash. I used it an hour ago and made some videos and so far it has worked well. I will keep you updated as how things go but in the meantime if you're a page 3 fan I have uploaded 3 page 3 girl videos of Sandra Jane Moore, Linda Krygsman & Jeanette Gillespie using Windows Movie Maker-so it DID work.

Hmm well that didn't last long-it appears I can do credits at the end of the video, I can add something before the video starts but EVERY time I try to put credits on the video-which I've done successfully for years, it crashes and disappears. I have no idea why it should only do this for that bit-anyone offer any ideas/solutions?

Back when I was having this same problem, the only thing that fixed it for me was setting a new "System Restore Point." (My problems usually happened after I downloaded some crummy "file converter" software, which I immediately uninstalled.)

Here's the basic instructions:

One problem with that is I would have to go way back to find when it was working fine and then you would have download all the uploads needed to protect your machine-had you got rid of something like malware or spyware etc it could be put back without you knowing so it is fraught with danger, whilst at the same time, sounding like a good idea but not one I will pursue unless it failed completely. It appears to crash when only credits on the video is selected-all the other options seem to work okay-I cannot fathom why this is-if anyone can suggest why please let me know.
