In the film "fabulous baker boys" or is it brothers? Michelle Pfeiffer did all her own singing. And in "little voice" Jane Horrocks also did all her own singing.

Yup and she also did all the impressions too.
Now this is going right back into my memory banks. I see to recall that on LBC Radio back in the 80s the late night host(forget his name for now) launched a new item, the first interactive computer game quiz. It was THE LORDS OF TIME, one of those textual adventures you coud get for the Spectrum, BBC Micro etc. I think he used an ATARI (which was the prize as well) and got people to phone in and play along. I listened intently to it each weekend night willing the callers to get it right. I don't recall any other radio station doing this, so it could have been a world first!

There was a TV show here in the late 80s on Friday nights that did something similar. The game had a post-apocalyptic setting, and the callers would make decisions and they would play a clip showing what happens next. A cool idea but badly executed, as there were only ever two choices and one was right and the other was wrong. Invariably the caller would choose the wrong decision, at which point the host would lamely proclaim them to have died (there was no clip for that) and move on to the next caller.

When she was cast in Lord Of The Rings, Liv Tyler falsely claimed she could ride a horse, but ended up needing a stunt double.

In 1984 there were only 1000 computers linked up to the (then) internet. By 1992 there were 1,000,000.

The only real hit single Led Zeppelin ever had was "Whole Lotta Love". It was their only song ever to crack the top ten on the Billboard chart, and their only single to be certified as "gold" or sales in excess of 1 million.

Their most popular song, "Stairway to Heaven" was never released as a single.

Led Zeppelin were essentially an albums band & the "Whole Lotta Love" single mentioned by Hugo was released by their US label against their wishes , it was also in an edited form which the Band were doubly unhappy about

Absolutely true, but that doesn't mean the label stopped trying. "Black Dog" was released as a single instead of "Stairway to Heaven" going as high as #15. And as late in their career as "In Through the Out Door" the song "Fool in The Rain" was released as single, reaching #21.

On the subject of Led Zeppelin (and entirely from memory). Did you know they only ever had one guest vocalist? That was Sandy Denny. Not a bad choice. As a small tribute the band gave her the Godhead symbol (three triangles) on the ZOSO (Led Zeppelin IV) album cover.

The comic actor Dick van Dyke(yeah I know it stretches credibility here but read on) was once considered for the role of James Bond by no less a person than the producer Cubby Broccoli; Dick then a leading man actor and of course had been in the James Bond-linked 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' reminded Cubby of his 'accent' used in Mary Poppins(or in his case Mary Pawpins) and Cubby said "oh yeah, I forgot about that, forget it then!" Our loss eh?
