And last night The 2016 remake of The Jungle Book. Not a bad version of a story I've seen several times when my kids were little. And they did manage to squeeze in the Bear Necessities.

Pacific Rim (2013)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1663662/

The Earth has been under attack for years from giant monsters Kaijus coming from a breach in the Pacific plates, mankind has been fighting back with their own giants, manned automated killing machines called Jaegers. World leaders do not think the Jaegers will work so they start to erect giant walls however the Kaijus soon breach the wall and the Jaegers are called on as the last line of attack in an attempt to deliver a massive nuclear bomb into the breach and into the aliens dimension.
Giant monsters, crazy scientists and a sexy Japanese co-star, what's not to love

Babe 1995. The story of the world's first sheep pig. Still a few chuckles and some warm and fuzzy, but not as good as I remember.

Two movies I recorded from TCM that I had not seen before.

Lone Star

Fairly wooden, considering the line up imo and they all rode off as friends at the end.

Ambush

Thoroughly enjoyed this cavalry stomping on the Indians romp as well as Jean Hagen upstaging the sugar coated Arlene Dahl.

The Equalizer 2

Denzel Washington returns as Robert McCall, a retired CIA Black Ops agent to defend, avenge, get revenge and give out some life lessons in The Equalizer 2

In a recent interview Washington stated there has only been one other time when he was approached to do a sequel for one of the films he starred in,but it never got the green light.
About midway through The Equalizer 2 i could see why he chose to take on this role again.
The film has a lot of heart at it's core.Yes there is a a lot of bone crunching action, but Washington as usual brings his A game, especially in some key scenes with Ashton Sanders as Miles Whittaker,a teenager who lives in the same building as McCall.
It's mesmerizing to watch and listen to the characters express some raw emotion.

Problems: A Predictable Path Actor is introduced. The film meanders here and there. The climax felt a bit off yes there was some rousing action, but the writers and Director decided to shape the scene around something that was more annoying than a nice addition.

The film get's so much right.A character that's trying to make peace with his past ,assist and guide other's and finding inner peace, that's such a good foundation to build on.
So Equalizer 3 on the horizon? Not a bad idea at all

Lightbulb If any film this year could have done with a modicum of promotion and a few actual extra theaters to open in it`s

This

A father brings his daughter up alone. Keeping her in a single room for years. Clearly loves her. So why has he imprisoned her ?. Why the bars across the tiny window. A window she couldn't possibly reach to get out from anyway ?. Why won't he let her leave that room ?. True , says it`s to protect her from a monster that eats children .
Only he seems determined for her to remain a child

Really liked the film.
Bel Powley and Liv Tyler are thoroughly believable.

However Brad Dourif is as ever the main man

Giving it two although if we'd seen three times as much of Brad it would have been a thumb higher

Blade Runner 2049. I skipped it when it came out because of the poor word of mouth. My Bad! It's a very good movie, visually impressive and with a satisfying story that builds on the original. There probably won't be a third, which is a shame

It really is good, and i'm glad to have seen it on the big screen (with about 10 people in the cinema at the time)

But i can imagine that for people who just want explosions and shooting it would be a huge disappointment.
