The Houseman's Tale was broadcast on the BBC in 1987 as a 2-part drama (2x75min = 150m).
However it was originally made in 1985 as a 4-part drama with each part being 50m (=200m) This was considered too controversial to show so it went through some heavy editing before being shown in a 10:30pm timeslot.

The broadcast version had a couple of Julie Graham ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0334150/reference ) topless scenes which are known about and have been previously posted here courtesy of mitchspur's clips.

However in the unbroadcast version both of these scenes are more revealing.

In the broadcast version of Julie Graham's initial scene a caption comes up which "conveniently" conceals her lower half as she is standing in the bedroom.
However in the uncut version there is no obscuring caption and she is seen fully frontal.


Her other scene is in the bed where she is complaining about stomach pains to her boyfriend Dr Campbell. This scene goes on for a bit longer in the uncut version as we see Campbell lower the sheets and check her abdomen. It is therefore only slightly different but if you compare the shots you'll see the sheet is lower.


Both of Julie Graham's scenes appear in episode 1.

In addition to those known scenes it transpires the unbroadcast version had several more topless scenes with other actresses.

(I'm assuming these were not in the broadcast version since none of these scenes have come to light in collectors' clips or caps)

Episode 2 has a topless sex scene with Juliet Cadzow ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0128341/reference ). She has been seen topless in the movie Venus Peter (1989) as well although with her face turned away from the camera ...



And in the first 10 minutes of episode 3 two actresses who have no other known nudity.

Mary Ann Reid ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0717358/reference ) is sitting up topless in a hospital bed awaiting a breast examination performed in a cringe-worthy manner by a bombastically insensitive senior registrar.


Binkie Darling ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0201338/reference ) is seen unconscious on a hospital bed wired up to monitoring equipment.



The first two uncut episodes (and 10 minutes of episode 3) have been posted on YouTube in multiple overlapping parts (each part repeats a bit of the previous one).
