Default Football is a universal language.Africa United.

Just watched this with Mrs Sid. and her sister and we all enjoyed it.

It doesn't hold back on some of the problems that Africa has, but it shows them and the kids kickin' back against a 'sea of troubles'. You would have to have a cold, cold heart not to root for them.

The only annoying thing was.. one of them was wearing an Arsenal shirt. Grrrr.

I`m sure they`ll be plenty of twists in the story , and that it won`t end happily for our hero. But i`m currently drunk enough to put those aside , sign out and sit through it

Don`t want to give anything away but the ending is pretty stupid just like the whole movie , and makes no sense given what the big D was able to do earlier throughout the film

I`d be almost tempted to watch the beginning again just to reaffirm what little sense the ending makes.

Guess they thought it was a brilliantly ironic twist

It wasn`t

Very bleached out look to it as well .

Well done that man. I couldn't last an hour; this film is fcuking rubbish. I like Denzel in most things, but this is fcuking rubbish.

Just finished watching this again, away on down the dial. Excellent, as always. However, I don't tend to swallow the "Greatest movie of all time", hype. It's a very good film; but it's still a tale of ordinary madness. A tough guy, but an arse.

Seven Days In May

Kirk Douglas helps head off Burt Lancaster's attempt at a military overthrow of the US government. From the same time and makes an interesting triumverate with Failsafe and Dr. Strangelove.

Interesting to read the production notes and see that the WhiteHouse liked the book and allowed the opening scene to be shot outside the gate (but where are the super big fat people?) while the Defense Department demanded "script approval" as usual and didn't cooperate with the production.

Screenplay by Rod Serling so it had a Twilight Zone feel to it.

The arms race and Soviets may have been a big point of it when it was made and for years afterwards but now watching it I'm taken by the lack of character and ingrained corruption of the principle players. They remind me of the stooges around Hitler in Downfall.

And Ava Gardner looks pretty much worn and fucked-out in her role.

I watched "Harry Brown" staring michael Caine last weekend. Not a movie buff or a big Caine fan. But it was a good movie. It is violent so if you don't like that sort of thing avoid. He's an ex British solider on a mission And he takes no shit!
