It's not a big deal for us in NZ-it will sometimes get mentioned on radio stations-usually in a humorous sense-and sometimes advertisers will make use of it-for example Hell Pizzas were advertising a 'Fri 13th Special' n radio earlier in the week....but that's about it. People don't generally take extra care, use good luck charms or whatever because its Fri 13th-by coincidence this time its the last day of the school holidays here-so there might have been a few horror themed entertainments for those of school age-but that's about it. Its not a very common occurrence-sometimes there's only one in a calendar year.

To put it into cultural context-even halloween is a relatively recent import into NZ-the whole dressing up in costume stuff -really only started in NZ in the 1990s-and is a direct import from the US-none of the original British aspects of the anniversary are celebrated here....and NZ being largely secular very few of the older european 'religious celebrations morphed into holiday' traditions have taken root.

There is not too much I can say about living in Australia that I haven't already said, but if I could live in Australia I would like to live in the hottest part of Australia. I don't know where this place is. Estreeter would probably know. All I need is a small house or cottage and a small town to live in which would satisfy all my needs.
