Babelfish Warning
Babelfish used to be an extremely helpful add-on, offering one-click translation of selected text, with automatic language detection. It's become less useful since Google made changes to their translation service and I haven't used myself it in quite a while. The last couple of days I found that whenever I clicked Check For Updates in the Add-on Manager I would get a message asking me to put in the admin password for my router - worrying. I've now tracked the cause down to this add-on, which I've uninstalled. Anyone who still has it lying around might be experiencing the same problem.

I haven't tried the new version of DownloadHelper, but it seems to break easily, although YTO requires constant updating. YT seems to keep trying to break the add-ons with tiny code changes, then the add-on authors change a JavaScript formula to fix it, and the cycle continues. |

However, I tried grabbing the video on that youtube link with the intention of upping it to RS for you, but oddly the Download button didn't appear. The other videos from that Direct8 company that are on youtube are grabable, but not the one you want! I suggest therefore that the issue is not with your downloadhelper, but that there's something odd about the way that particular video has been recorded, encoded or uploaded.

All downloader extensions or programs face the same problem, of being involved in an arms race with YouTube, and so require constant updating. When DownloadHelper didn't work, I used UnPlug for Firefox (I wouldn't go to Chrome as I value my privacy, but that's another story), but that doesn't work with this video either.

I also agree that there is probably an issue with the encoding, something not standard about it, that's keeping it from being downloaded. That's why I have a DVD Recorder...an HDMI cable from the PC to the Recorder gives you a surprisingly decent option for obstinate videos. |

Re: Download helpers.
On my computer, Firefox(15.1) creates a copy of the video in "Documents and Settings...<current user>...local settings...temp". It is named with a .tmp extension. When the video has been completely downloaded, I pause the playback then use Right Click...Send To...Unlocker and copy the .tmp file to another directory. I can then finish watching the video or exit the page. Firefox will then remove the .tmp file from the Temp directory. Before you rename the file use Right Click...Media Info to find out the proper extension to use in the file name.
If Firefox does not create the file in the Temp directory, then use this trick. Open a new tab and enter about:cache in the address bar. It will display a page giving details of FF's current use of memory and hard disk caches. Click 'List Cache Entries' under Disk Cache Device. Now do a page search for the file type .tmp or .mp3, etc. Click on the desired entry and it will take you to a details page about that entry. Here there is an item for 'File On Disk' this is where FF has stored the file. |
