Great thread . I am also a BIG Star Wars fan (just look at my avatar), and are relly looking forwards to episode 7 and Rouge One which will be released next year.
I must admit that I got really concerned when I heard that Disney bought Lucasfilm, but it seems that they are going to treat the franchise with care and respect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e813AnfX0Y http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3748528/ |

Personally, I think that Disney buying the rights was a good move.
The prequels were nothing to write home about and a fresh perspective on the franchise is a good thing. Having a new kind of villain and returning the franchise to its roots is more interesting, IMO.

Saber talk
Lots of talk about the new lightsaber. Personally, I love it! Even Stephen Colbert chimed in to offer a few tips on how it is an effective weapon
Even though some fans have decided to have a little harmless fun with it The design looks like it reflects Medieval times and is appropriate to Kylo Ren's character. It's a metaphor of sorts for his character. Even his fighting style resembles Medieval knights in combat. This .GIF is just too cool... I'm just hoping that it isn't overused

Plus you appreciate the great lengths the crew had to set up scenes and endure harsh weather conditions.

I haven't grown up on Star Wars, I watched it when I was an adult. I don't know the expanded universe, I can't quote many scenes. I love the original trilogy, and the prequel movies actually get worse after every viewing. Revenge of the Sith is alright, but its quality is more noticeable when marathoning the prequel trilogy. On its own, it's not a great movie. The other 2 are not worth talking about.
I hope part 7 does really well. I haven't looked at any other trailer but the teaser that had Han Solo and Chewbacca, the former saying "Chewie, we're home." I don't want to look at the trailers, I avoided the Terminator 5 trailers, even the Hateful 8 trailer. I don't want to build up anticipation and risk being knocked down. T5 though knocked me down, I don't think the other 2 movies will. I haven't seen the Star Trek movies, I would just for the sequel and to see Heather Langenkamp. But I did see Mission Impossible 3, so I have experienced JJ Abrams. The Star Wars franchise is in good hands. I can only imagine a movie where Jar Jar Binks, Gwildor from Masters of the Universe, Dakota Johnson, Kelly Rowland, and Chewie from the Friday the 13th remake all came together and just talked. It'd be the worst movie ever. |
