Christmas decoration
Anyone started to put up lights etc or even the old Christmas tree. I dread having to get into my loft and drag out all the paraphernalia from previous years. Then my wife buys more stuff and I have to pack it away in January with the additions. I love the scene when it's all done but it's the initial faff that I don't like. How the people with outside scenes and thousands of lights enjoy it I don't know. So who's started?

Noooooooooo not the C word, not yet, it's too bloody early. In any case the other C word (Chanukah) is before that -think Diwali without the bangs! I cannot get into a Christmas groove of sorts this early and it drives me mad when people say "oh yes, well we've already done our shopping!" I like seeing the trees, lights and it is also a time when people actually smile more, but not in November!

A couple of years ago when we downsized, my wife got quite ruthless and decided to throw out a lot of Christmas stuff we'd accumulated over the years. Then the kids protested"'you can't throw that out mum...it's part of our childhood!' So it all ended up in our son's garage. Now we just have a tree and a box of ornaments and lights that all fit in the cupboard.
My missus puts it up in an hour around the 20th of December. |

Liking all the puns coming out, almost sounds like they were found in a cracker! Last year we didn't put any decs up as we were mourning but we got out an already laden artificial tree that is only 2 feet high. So much easier than a big 6ft Nordic pine with 400 lights to attach and several boxes of baubles and candy cane. I did miss the hanging chocolates though.
