I read that the dead count has gone over 50 by now, that's pretty bad!

Shocking events indeed my Dad is due to visit Las Vegas in a few weeks time, staying at the Luxor and he frequently visits the Mandalay Bay for their machines. At the moment he is fine with it.

He's a TWAT either way, thankfully now a dead TWAT and good riddance it's just a crying shame the lousy good for nothing bastard had to take his problems out on so many innocent people out enjoying themselves.

No doubt those other sad bastards at the NRA will be busy getting ready to promote their tired one solution to fit all problems "we need more guns" mantra.

The bastard killed himself as police stormed the room where 10 guns were found.
Yup more guns has to be the answer doesn't it

IS have claimed responsibility, we don't know if the bastard was a Muslim convert or just a common or garden twisted psychotic but IS are just an even sadder bunch of rabid deranged bastards, if an earthquake struck anywhere they'd claim they were responsible for that too.

58 dead as of now and over 500 injured yet by tomorrow it will be business as usual. I doubt if even the massive scale of an event like this will make people re-think their position on guns; to be honest it's an American issue and can only be sorted internally. We can only sit back, watch and read what happens next and hope that the fatalities do not increase.

Is that really a serious question? ???

In the immediate aftermath of a tragic event like this do you really think posting about your family's thoughts about holidays there is appropriate ?? By all means talk about it in private as a family unit but it's not really the best time to post anything remotely like that.

Yes because he could have been worried that he might be caught up in something and at 86 I think anyone would worry especially when you are in the hotel opposite that one. Technically it is not a holiday because only he is going and we worry about him crossing the street on his own but he goes while he can. His first thought this morning was a friend of his that lives there and is a country music fan -thankfully his friend was not present,

I think he was posting it to show how virtually anyone of us or our families could very easily be in a position to experience such as event.
He wasn't dismissing the deaths, he was stating how easily his dad could have been a victim had his trip been earlier.

I think we all know that tragedies can and do happen, as the old saying goes "there but for the grace of God" however we should be cautious when we post after such events as it came across as pretty tasteless, no sympathy for those affected directly or indirectly just apparent concern for someone who "might have been" if they were there.
I've said my piece and I hope it has been taken as it was intended.

Yes absolutely I would never dismiss any such terrible tragedy be it here or elsewhere and never will. We all think we are safe at home or when we go abroad but this is now not the case and these days anyone can be caught up in any conflict, tragedy or such like experience -thuisthe kind of world we live in now. Thank you movieman at least someone understood what I was alluding to.

I also noticed that Monarch Airlines are to fold. I remember we went to Tenerife in the late 70s by thst airline and I have fond memories of that trip. It is odd to think that it lasted longer than Sur Freddie Laker's Skytrain service which at thst time was ruler of the skies and that went belly up long before Monarch. I also got to sit in the cockpit when it was allowed and that was a thrill too. RIP Monarch, you will be missed. They are also starting a mass evacuation and repatriation of holidaymakers, the largest movemeant of people of its kind since the Second World War.
