Since it is Sunday, my thought of the day which at another place oft. became a sermon
It's all well and good to have this funny stuff during June and July for whatever plan or purpose but that ends on Tuesday then there is over two weeks to the next truly competitive cricket and several before. Most will get at least one Championship game in yet I read that some have no fixture. I even read that a certain opening batsmen could be seconded to another team. Just what would the oppo think of that ? The bottom line is that this is hardly the right preparation for an important test series. One could argue that England at home, in English conditions and pitches prepared to their advantage is suffice. But players still need appropriate match practice and right now they ain't getting it. Amen ! |

The worrying thing when it comes to the organisation of the professional game in Engalnd & Wales is not the disjointed mess it's in but rather that the ECB deludingly think that everything in the garden is rosy!

Cook, Malan and Woakes included in the lions team against India A, Cook currently 50 not out. Essex next county game is 19 August, so he will need some time in the middle. Only three div one games in July, start 22nd, Lancs v Yorks, Notts v Surrey & Worcs v Somerset, so some may get a run out for the county, other than that its just pyjama cricket. |

The look on Kohli's face when we was done by Rashid's 'Warnie' Have India, again, flattered to deceive ? A bit of a walk in the park today. m.sp's. corrected upon sobering up. Last edited by DB83; July 18th, 2018 at 07:52 AM.. |

If your going to take a hat trick in the County Championship, you might as well get some notable scalps.

So the latest brainwave from the ECB for their new 100-slogfest is that each team will be of 12 (yes 12) players with only 11 being on the field.
The 'cunning plan' is to have a specialist six-hitter, who might be a rabbit of a fielder, just appearing to bat. What with 5 ball overs real cricket just took another dive. |
