Encoding mp4 file to play audio track 2
I have an mp4 video file of a Marc Dorcel production "Le Parfum de Mathilde" that contains both the original French audio track (track 1) and an English dub audio track (track 2).
I can play the video on my PC using VLC player and by selecting track 2 it plays the English dub version. I'd like to create (encode) a DVD set of files that I can burn into a DVD-R that will play the English dub audio track using an ordinary DVD player that outputs to a TV. I tried, using Freemake Video Converter, but the resulting DVD-R only plays the French audio version (track 1). Any help or suggestions for creating a DVD-R that will play the English dub version that I can play on an ordinary DVD player and view it on a TV screen? Thanks. |

Use MKVToolNix a free program. Add the file and look at the Tracks, Chapters, and tag box. It willl display the video and audio specifics. Uncheck the box that contains the French audio and then click "start muxing" in about 1 minute you will have the file as you want it, without loss of quality. Let me know how it goes |

Thanks for your reply, but (ah...the big but) near as I could tell that function in the VLC player only works if you have the original DVD or an exact copy DVD-R and it converts in the other direction.
Reading the DVD files (D it converts the DVD files to a video file (MP4) and allows you to select the audio track if there is more than one on the DVD. |

Terrific. Did the download and install. Ended up with a MKV Merge GUI shortcut on my desktop.
Clicked on it and up came a user interface that, for me and what I wanted to do, was self explanatory. Two clicks and less than 2 minutes later I had a xxx.mkv video file that had a single English dub track. According to the brief description on the download page this software does many other things that I've yet to learn (or need). "common" - Thanks very much. Thanks to lagrlout also. I now know that I can use the VLC player to extract a video file from a DVD. Freemake will do that also. |
