I'm sure this has been mentioned many times, but the easiest way to open multiple files to form the complete film is to download all .rar files then open the first one with 7-zip, and this will automatically join all files and open the complete film. I quite often see posts for films saying "download files and join with HC" - they should say "download and open with 7-zip". This easy to use and free program can be found here:

I use EasyVideoJoiner, which has been mentioned before on the forum. It looks like a shareware program on first sight, and I guess it originally has been shareware, but the manufacturers themselves have published a free registration-code on the homepage, so it's indeed freeware.

Until now, I didn't have the slightest problems to join several videos.

I don't know why the program still requires a registration code and why the page is called "order", and to be honest, when I donwloaded it, I was just about to delete the program-file again, but it's really absolutely free. One doesn't even have to send any personal data to the manufacturers.

Just thought posting this firefox addon relevant given that firefox has had its first reported case of targetted keylogging malware 5.12.08

The malware uses JavaScript to identify more than 100 financial and money transfer Web sites, including Barclays, Wachovia, Bank of America, and PayPal along with two dozen or so Italian and Spanish banks. When it recognizes a Web site, it will collect logins and passwords, forwarding that information to a server in Russia.

It not only plays almost anything you can throw at it, it captures analogue and digital TV signals from your TV card or USB device. The innards take a bit of getting used to, but if you like experimenting it can be very rewarding.

Another video converter-joiner is Mediacoder - it can convert and join or just join in copy mode like Avidemux, though I think Avidemux is better. Beware, like Super it plays funny browser tricks.

Lastly a FF browser plugin which allows you to download youtube files in higher quality MP4 format rather than crappy FLV.

There in lies the problem...putting all your trust into a free piece of software doesnt come without risks as evidenced by this users experience

It s simple to configure, and it brings all needed codecs within. (the only thing to mention is, that this tool is not for older, slow pc)

allows you to download any mediafile fron nearly every side, and after trying all these youtube aso tools (with their annoying "file not found"... messages), this is my first choise. Check the configuration of this tool, and it offers you, to install a FLV to AVI converter, so, if you leech a file from youtube, myvideo, metacafe, xvideo, empflix..., you get an already converted .avi file. Give this a try, you ll be surprised, what a good job it does, I don t wanna explain all to you, you know, music industry and copyrights.
OK, I have two tools, that convert on my pc, but why should I down a FLV and convert it to AVI manually, when I could get an AVI file?

If you want to edit Avi-files, (not join seperate ones, by the way), but don't feel like spending hours to go through all the menu's to extract the bit you downloaded it for, this might be of help.

It's easy and I didn't see any loss of quality. For those that have tried Windows movie-maker (which is a real b*tch), this is way faster. If you know what part you want, you'll be able to edit it in about a minute or 2.
