Only because I have a back garden about the size of a large dinner table. When we had the control of a large open space behind the house my family hosted a bonfire for the neighbours every year for most of the 1970s and into the 1980s. But my natural grandmother was a very amusing and feisty old girl, a real character; she was chuffed to little meatballs to find out we were in the world, as was her son, my natural uncle. Its a shame they never got to meet my other grandparents; it would have been "interesting".

And yes, we burned Guy Fawkes in effigy every year without fail.

On a more lighter note watched the Commonwealth Games gymnastics and cycling and Team England and Scotland did well as did Wales. The Brownlee Brothers secured silver in the mixed triathlon along with Jess Learmonth who had won the women's individual race three days earlier. Weightlifting silvers to England men & women ans Swimming Adam Peaty and James Wilby made it a one-two for England. Gymnastics gold and silver in men's all-around competition to Nile Wilson and James Hall. Another chance for individual apparatus medals tonight for them. Women got a bronze

A van is reported to have driven into pedestrians in the city of Muenster, in Germany.

Local police have confirmed there are deaths and injuries, but have not said how many.

They have asked local people to avoid the area.
