but having said that, I can't help noticing that the BBC has plenty to report about naughty bad Boris and the burkhas, but had much less to say about the anti-semitism routinely exhibited by the Labour Party, which of course chimes in with the anti-Israel narrative. I reckon Israel and the Palestinians exist on this earth to each be the just punishment for the other, and I have no time for either of them. But if Boris Johnson's florid and hyperbolic sneering at the Islamic dress code is so naughty, then why are we not hearing the same chorus of denunciation for similar ranting from Labour Party big-mouths such as Peter Willsman? Presumably the rules are no different if you run your mouth off with anti-Jewish bile than if you run your mouth off with Islamophobic bile?

There's a very funny picture-doctored-of Boris posting a letter through a burka - personally I have no worries about a woman who hides herself behind a veil but some find it creepy and sinister, and in the climate we are in, who can blame them.

Unemployment? Neither map has any reference to unemployment.

Oklahoma is the only state with above-average SBs and below-average child deaths. Except for the West Coast states, the correlation holds.

Sorry to say that I don't have much respect for any religion. I believe that most of this nonsense belongs in the past and I simply cannot be bothered with the crazy idea of a god or any kind of afterlife. When your time is up, it's all over and you're gone forever. But having said that, I do believe it is everyone's right to believe in whatever they want, providing they don't try to shove it down other people's throats or cause harm to others. Boris can be a total pratt at times, but I'm in full agreement with him about burkas and what they represent.

Being encouraged/bullied into wearing something that makes you look like a Dalek is beyond ridiculous and actually verging on making a large scale racist statement. If followers of other religions walked around our streets dressed like the KKK, there would be riots and maybe a few public lynchings.

What the rather sad people who make women dress like this are saying, is, "we keep our women in line, we are completely different from you and we want nothing to do with you." Muslims are welcome to their backward beliefs, but behaving like this in a modern Western society is just not on - IMHO. And unfortunately, it doesn't end there and this group of people have been allowed to have animals tortured to death in slaughterhouses for no sensible reason, think it's okay to have sex with children and often openly dislike anyone gay. Say anything rude about their prophet and you might be putting your life at risk.

This is a largey humourless community who generally live totally separate lives from the infidels and have no intention of allowing things to change.

Not for me thanks! I wish things were different, but sadly there seems little chance of this ever changing.

I've not kept a close eye on the Labour party anti-semitism row, but I've not actually heard any details of any actual allegation, just lots of talk about their being allegations of anti-semitism, so could anyone please enlighten me of actual allegations?


About the post box analogy, it would be closer if they were wearing red. Anyway, I believe there's no actual instruction in the Koran for the wearing of such things. Does anyone know if it's in other islamic books?

Anyway, I'd like to know if muslim women who do wear those things are allowed onto busses/trains etc. when using bus passes without showing their faces, or are allowed into places by the security guards where a comparison of a face to a photo ID is expected, without showing their faces?

We all have different experiences, and it sounds as though you have spent time with a truly different group of Muslims than I have, who have been secular and quite fond of humor. Of course, the different spelling may have something to do with it.

Oh, and wearing clothes "that makes you look like a Dalek"? I guess there aren't any Roman Catholics in your neighborhood, either.

That said, being around folks who profess a belief in Sky Fairies makes me itch as well.
