Small Claims Court
Claims To Fame
I believe i've been lucky to have met a lot of my Icons & personal heroes , musicians, TV personalities, people in the public eye however, my Father used to be a chauffeur & can easily put me to shame. Which makes for an intriguing thread idea, everybody's met someone famous but the more tenuous tales are often more entertaining than an ask for an autograph, a brief chat or to shamelessly ask to take a piccie with... so , who have you met from celebrity life, what character in the public eye can you regale a tail about? creds to Sean Keavney for the thread idea |

Politicians give heartburn
Laws are Like Sausages. Better Not to See Them Being Made.
~ Otto von Bismarck or John Godfrey Saxe or Claudius O. Johnson From seven years old to my early twentys, I was heavily involved in observing federal and provincial politics--every party, all levels, every philosophy, and even some surprising "back-room" meetings. My immediate family, teachers, friends, schoolmates, and social leaders all had political connections and they all wanted me to be interested in what they were doing. My age seemed to allow me to be everywhere and be ignored. I was young, enthusiastic, I gave people in power many "leader and teacher of youth" photo-ops ... and I heard and saw everything the adults thought I was too young to understand. I saw blatant prejudices, harassment, infidelities, cruelty, drunken/drugged celebrations, illegalities, and fraud. Seeing a federal cabinet minister with shoes off, tie loosened, drinking beer while watching sports on TV is 'heart-warming' only until you overhear his abusive & sadistic comments about the cheerleaders and his toady's promise not to tell the minister's wife or kids. I am electile disfunction. I still eat sausage. |

Bypassing my previous posts re this subject in other threads......
.. we had a well known british female porn star in our shop the other week.... but i cannot say who of course..... i have to admit i didn't actually recognise her (without the slap and in clothing) on the first visit, it was only when the boss told me, and then showed some pix on 'uncle google' that i cottoned on.... and it was much harder to keep a straight face when she came back to collect fixed laptop... lol. only hint, is that she is current, working for the biggest uk porn companies, and also does those sex chat tv things on the freeview channels around 170 or so....?

I can see I'm gonna have to hold your hand thru this
C'mon PhEg I know you've brushed with fame on many occasions & was relying on you to give us some juice
but what I'm really after is tenuous links to minor celebs My most recent claim to fame was a brief chat with musician Thomas Dolby after a screening of a film he made about the closure of a lighthouse.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_vGHqIvoHg after which I was surprised to meet Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark frontman Andy McCluskey in the toilets. even the moderately famous have to pee ! But here's a classic small claim to fame, My sister used to work with Margot, the wife of Tony Holland, who is the musical muscle-man from out of off of 70s talent show Opportunity Knocks ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgYYEGcySHg |

you want minor claim to fames..?? you can't handle minor claims to fames..!!!
seriously..... would doing a one off roadie session for the Average White Band do..?? Was working as a courier, when asked to do a late night 'favour' for the guy who handled the phones over the weekend.... he sent me to what was then Ronnie Scott's club on Broad Street in Birmingham, where I was told to park my van round the back, then wait until 'the band' had finished their gig, then transport their gear wherever they asked.... A little over an hour later I was chatting to the band while loading their amps and guitars, drums, keys, into my van, and then taking them a rather oddly small journey to the nearby Copthorne Hotel; some half a mile away; whereupon helping to reload all their gear into a storage room for the night, I accepted the offer to join the band for a quick drink in the hotel bar. Was surprised to find a bunch of 'sweatys' had created such a cool band name.... beats the bay city rollers at least...lol. A really nice down to earth bunch of guys, and a real pleasure to have met them... albeit briefly; and two score better off due to their over generous tip, on top of my minimum 4hrs overtime already earned.
