I've pretty much given up drinking, driving for a living makes it to much of a risk, but I did enjoy a couple of bottles of Bud this evening

This year the family went to New Orleans and LA for vacation and we all had plenty of beer in NOLA. I don't have any work at the moment so economy is required. I had pre booked and paid for flights, car hire and accommodation to take Mrs db and I to Florida after Xmas so now I am saving up my thirst for the vacation. |

I am going to my fourth reunion in five weeks. My wife is now an expert in getting port stains out of my dress shirts.
Tonight will be G&T, Sauvignon Blanc, Port, More Port and a brandy for the road. Tomorrow will be lots and lots and lots of water and orange juice. |

Remember to "pass the Port" the correct way haroldeye, as managed not to do on my first Gentlemand Dinner at the Golf Club many many many years ago. The agast loks I got still shame me.
For me tonight it will be Franciocorta, as I am making a Burre Blanc with it, so it would be rude not to finish off the bottle.

Recently a friend gave me a Dikke Lul 3 Bier, which is an APA style brew from Holland, pretty bitter and really good. 5,6% but it comes across as a 7 or 8% IMO. I liked it.
"dikke lul" literally means fat dick, but it's also a Dutch saying, more or less meaning Didn't think so! or That's BS! As for "dikke lul 3 beer", it's unclear, but seems to refer to some joke or story where 3 guys are keeping a baby while in a pub, and don't feel like going back yet so they order dikke lul ('lul' also used to mean a baby's bottle) and three beers. Anyway, best Dutch beer i ever had. |

I was drinking earlier, been out, decided I was gonna come home only half drunk but drink the same amount I usually would in the same time frame, so whiskey was given the flick tonight and replaced with Souther Comfort and Dry, found that drink though slightly girly, gives only a minor hangover

Getting back to my vacation in NOLA
I was drinking this: https://abita.com/brews/andygator# Brewed in Louisiana, it is a Helles Doppelbock beer with 8% ABV. and it just glides down. I was drinking it on draught over a meal of crawfish and blackened catfish...I had three 16oz (US micro-pint) with dinner and then got up to go to the loo. My head and torso all moved as per expectations but my legs didn't get the email!! Oddest feeling to be happy and kinda sober but without the use of one's legs At this juncture I had no idea it was 8% ABV, only that it was smooth and very suppable |
