Attention: There is a prevalent email scam happening everywhere where the sender claims to have a password to a site and demands money in some form. Ignore it, do not respond and at most change passwords on any sites you frequent.

Effective immediately, moving or animated GIFs are not allowed in signatures. If your signature has one, please remove or replace it asap. Staff will remove them as and when we see them without notice.

Sincerest apologies to everyone for the recent blackout. VEF and several of our sister forums had a major server malfunction. The database index is being rebuilt from scratch and may take at least several days to be fully restored. Expect major weirdness and lots of glitches in the meantime. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

Unfortunately it seems that all of the posts made from the 13th March until the crash are permanently lost, please feel free to re-post any such material, apologies for this.

inactionman Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2006 Posts: 305 Thanks: 696 Thanked 8,743 Times in 302 Posts	Book / magazine scanner Has any member here had any experience with the newer type scanners - these are basically a camera on a tripod - they are meant to be very fast but i am wondering about (1, picture quality (2, what the software has to offer with regard to image manipulation ie. gamma / contrast etc. I have a formidable collection of mags and smaller British pocket mags from the 60's - 70's and using the V700 is... shall we say a little slow and tedious - however there is great image control with the software that balances the good and bad - thanks
