England taking S.A. wickets is like buses. You wait ages for one and then two come almost together.

Need a new bus time-table for the afternoon session with the lead approaching 300 (currently 299) and only 3 down.

Couldn't agree more DB83. Although Jimmy's 5-fer in the 1st innings and Stokes 34 overs for 2 wickets at a run rate of 1.7 per over in the second are good performances, we now need the batsmen to step up. Cook has had a life and now needs to stick around, and get a few runs, with Jennings for at least two sessions. Joe shouldn't have to come in with less than 100 to 125 on the board.

Goodbye Jennings, Ballance & Dawson?

Thoughts gentleman.

I was just about to flex the fingers on the kybd and Bairstow gets a rush of blood.

5 down already. Do the paying customers get a partial refund for uselessness ?

And talking of uselessness, I cannot see how the selectors can justify keeping the intrepid three that Victor has highlighted.

And a bitter blow for Joe since both Dawson and Ballance are his picks.

But who will replace them. Buttler ?. Who was that guy he got injured and Jennings came in (or was it the other way around ) ?. Move Joe to No3 although he wants to be No4.

Welcome to the savage reality of Test captaincy Joe.

Haseeb Hameed.

But it seems his scores for Lancashire this season have been very poor. It would be a very bold step to select him for the 3rd test.

Holy fook.

I have to go out for a half hour or so and they lose another 4

Edit: Make that 5.

England lose by 340. All out for 133. Pathetic.

Best I've seen technique-wise this season is Stoneman of Surrey.

I am trying to think back to my youth. I can remember a team called 'The Lord's Taverners'. Are they still active ? But, maybe I imagine this one but I have this recollection of a team called 'The Cavaliers'.

And it surely is this cavalier, gun-ho, attitude that is the failing of the test side. If it comes off aka Stokes, Bairstow, or even Moeen, it looks good but if they fail to rash strokes then they do look like plonkers.

Pick the right ball but not pre-determine one. Surely that's the difference with test cricket and right now England are far too inconsistent.

Wanted. One opening batsmen to hold up an end. Score some runs without giving a preverbial on how long it takes him. Can you get match fit in 9 days Mr. Boycott

That might prove a difficult task for every thing that is wrong with county cricket is now leaking through to the Test side.
