Indigo appears to be a French company, obviously buying in private information from the DVLA, which I personally consider a massive breach of the data protection act. That aside, I believe that in this situation there is a deal between the parking company and Cardiff & Vale Health Board. If its like my local hospital, the parking company takes the larger share of the money.

So you have a bullyboy outfit like all the other parking companies and a hospital body who doesn't value its staff very highly. Allowing this to get to the county court is really not on and IMHO, any half decent judge, should exercise a degree of fair play and not support anything just because the law says it's written in stone and must be obeyed.

Oddly enough, I had it in the back of my mind that Wales had free parking at hospitals. Maybe it's only Scotland?

Sounds like another way for the hospital to save on its labor cost.

Default Qatar crisis: UAE denies hacking news agency

The United Arab Emirates has denied it was behind the alleged hacking of Qatar's state news agency in May.

The Washington Post cited US intelligence officials as saying the UAE had orchestrated the posting of incendiary quotes attributed to Qatar's emir that he insisted were fabricated.

The incident helped spark a diplomatic rift between Qatar and its neighbours.

Qatar said the report "unequivocally proves that this hacking crime took place".

However, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash told the BBC on Monday the Post's report was "untrue".

He also reiterated that the UAE and five other Arab nations had not written to Fifa to demand that Qatar be stripped of the right to host the 2022 World Cup.

This sounds like Qatar was stitched up...all very fishy.

Car parking at hospitals is controlled by companies as one of the many disastrous PFIs introduced by Labour.
The hospitals have no control anymore, even in Scotland where carparking is supposedly free.
It is not free in 3 hospitals with PFI contracts.

Those "Private Finance Initiatives" are the coffin nails to the public purse financings. In front of the hand nothing has changed at PFIs, behind the details are having dramatically changed, for example the labour rights.

"Introduced by labour": I'm betting a box of Maggi® it was at the time, Tony Blair was PM.
But also a lots of English "table silver" have been sold during the Thatcher period.

I noticed that the Adverising Standards Association ASA are to ban adverts which show stereotypes like men being useless at things from changing nappies to taking the kids to,school or ironing a shirt etc...about bloody time too, for far too long advertisers have portrayed men as feckless, useless and lazy which might be for a small minority but not the vast majority and one assumes that this will also cut both ways. Not showing women always cleaning the house, ironing, vacuuming etc because again not all women do that-mostly chores are shared now, but it is also true to say that most modern women don't always have children and nowadays aren't just married to men.

At my local hospital there are so many parked cars belonging to staff that visitors and outpatients struggle to find a space.

People who work in offices in the city don't get free parking, why should NHS staff ?

Because they work very erratic hours and need to be on time and not tired by the time they arrive...maybe?

I mean, I take your point but we do need to cut some people some slack. Charging extortionate hospital parking fees to staff without recompense (in fact wages going backwards) seems extremely counter productive to me.

It's certainly something I would have fought against on behalf of my staff when I was a manager of a town centre office where colleagues were contractually obliged to have a car available at all times.

That needs no comment: It is the ground of the hospital, which staff is working there.

If you have a bigger company in the town - or the staff of the area authority - I bet they are having free parking too.
