I paid for a timed delivery from John Lewis - £25 - between 11.00 and 1.00 p.m. yesterday.

They arrived at 10.30.

As it happened, I was back by then but, although it seems churlish, I am tempted to ask for my money back because I didn't get the service I paid quite a bit for. I was clearly just the next one on the list.

Just watching something on TV about Bill Cosby,
Those comments about what a fall from grace he's had

Well there are two things for me:
1. When I 'm stuck in the traffic.
2. When my friend and fellow member in our band gets late in our appointment for rehearsal.

Today I went downstairs to meet a mate, and have a coffee, we were sitting, minding our own business, when a man at the next table asked us if we were soldiers, fair enough, as he had heard the conversation, so we said we were retired, he then told us he was ex army, so obviously the conversation opened up, he then told us he was ex Parachute Regiment, as were we both, but strangely we did not know him, some how I asked him his service number, and when he gave it, I asked when and where he had joined. He said Sandhurst 1983, which was interesting because according to his service number, he was not an officer and must have joined at some point around the Crimea War!

Walts I take with a pinch of salt, but ffs, Regimental Numbers are sequential, issued at certain periods, every squaddie knows his own and roughly what would have been issued during and around his time, officers have a completely different numbering system, so if you want to walt for fuck sake find out how many digits in each and what the first one or two are likely to be!

Numbering changed in 2007 by the way everyone now has a similar number in all three services!

Similarly, I hate when repair companies/services give me a 4-5 hour window of when they will be arriving to my house. We'll be there between noon and 4:00.
Now I've got to sit home all day like a chump guessing when they will arrive. I could be doing things or running errands in those 4 hours.
I realize that sometimes the repairman/tech may run into unforeseen problems at a previous customer to keep them there longer than expected, but a courtesy call would not be out of order -- after all its not like they don't have a cellphone holstered on them.

You know all you have to do is, book them to arrive at a mates or enemies place as a joke on them and payback to the service company and waste their time
