If you want to know more about TV "crossovers", you should check out this site: http://www.poobala.com/crossoverlist.html
The creator followed a lot of crossover chains (show A crosses with B, B with C, etc.) to figure out which TV shows are in the same universes. Some get pretty large, for example all of these shows connect to each other: Group 1 All In The Family Archie Bunker's Place Blossom Checking In Diff'rent Strokes E/R The Facts Of Life The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air Gloria Good Times Hello, Larry In The House The Jeffersons Maude Out All Night 704 Hauser Silver Spoons He also lets you see specific show to show connections and why they connect (i.e. character from one show appears on another, character references other show, etc.). Fair warning though, its the kind of site that can have you looking up at the clock and thinking "Whadda ya mean 10 hours have passed!"

seany65,
Gotta agree with winebeavis. That was hilarious. I'd really like to see a few announcers like that. Last edited by 9876543210; January 25th, 2014 at 03:10 PM.. |

Having been warned, I was smart enough to put my coffee down before I watched it. Fucking hysterical.

I love crossovers! They go back a long ways... As some have already noted, it could be a ratings gimmick, or a way to launch a new show, or maybe just because we Americans like it. I remember as a kid being thrilled that the Green Hornet was going to be on a Batman show. I used to watch Dr Who and was pleased as punch over the 5 Doctors episode, even though Tom Baker wasn't in it. And I'm a big fan of the Marvel-DC Crossovers. It's just cool to see different established characters interact with each other.
I thought that Richard Belzer as Detective John Munch might have the record for most appearances in cross-overs, and I was correct: Munch has become the only fictional character, played by a single actor, to appear on 10 different television shows. These shows were on five different networks: NBC (Homicide: Life on the Street, Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, and 30 Rock); Fox (The X-Files and Arrested Development); UPN (The Beat); HBO (The Wire) and ABC (Jimmy Kimmel Live!). Munch has been one of the few television characters to cross genres, appearing not only in crime drama series, but sitcom (Arrested Development), late night comedy (Jimmy Kimmel Live!) and horror and science fiction (The X-Files).[42] He has played a role in international television series, beginning with UK crime drama Luther where he is mentioned as an American contact for the series' Serious Crime Unit (SCU). Notably Luther stars Idris Elba, the actor who played Stringer Bell in the HBO drama The Wire where Munch previously cameoed. As a side story, Detective Munch was inspired by Sgt Jay Landsman of the Baltimore City Police Department in the book "Homicide". I worked with Jay for about 3 years. He was quite a character.

Just for the sake of completeness, Richard Belzer was originally a stand up comedian. A VERY twisted stand up. He is also an extremely over-the-top conspiracy theorist. When he began introducing his theories into his comedy act he pretty much killed off that part of his career. Also, he was one of the primary people involved in a 1974 movie called 'The Groove Tube' a chaotic, uneven anarchic comedy, which at it's best was very funny.

Le Big Mac with fries.
This is possibly the best explanation of the cultural difference between the USA and Europe. I think that Tarantino might have been thinking about personal experiences when he lived on this side of the pond for a couple of years.
