Alright, quacksacker started it, so I will continue to convert this comical thread to an argument for (or against) political correctness. quacksacker states: “I can't stand one group of people telling another group what they can and can't do.” Then ironically, he (or she) adds: “I agree people shouldn't be allowed to smoke in confined places like restaurants . . . .” How is mandating that a restaurant owner forbid smoking in has own restaurant not “one group of people telling another group what they can and can't do.”????? If people do not want to be exposed to second hand smoke, they can simply not patronize a restaurant, barbershop, or other business (even an airline) that permits smoking on the premises.

I stopped smoking when I purchased a fire blanket.

Cool

You never have to give up smoking unless it's a drain on your monetary assets. Many people smoke all their life and it never affects their health. so if you like it keep doing it!

Yeah tell that to my parents, oops you can't they are both dead. My mom dead at 66 from smoking related cancer. My dad did not die from cancer but had to have the roof of his mouth removed and it left a big hole in his palate. They had to put an obdurater (sic) in, which he had to take out daily or more often for cleaning. When it was out you could see all the way into his nasal passages and more.

When visibility in Oxford Street is down to fifty yards I do not believe it is tobacco smoke. I would never argue any positive to smoking but when I complain to various health professionals half my age that I am fucked after climbing three flights of stairs they tell me they are worse and non-smokers.

All that nicotine has to leave you someway, and mainly that is in your urine. Bladder cancer from smoking is a horrible way to die. Not that Lung Cancer is a cake walk, but Bladder Cancer doesn't get that much mention.

Smokers are killed by the tar in cigarette smoke , not the nicotine.

I'm just going by what the oncologist told me what killed him. Tar in lungs, sure.
