When Burt Lancaster died in 1994, one of the Kessler twins added her own memories about the actor in an interview to a German magazine, admitting (quite proudly, without a hint of embarassment) that when they went to the US in the 1960s to try thier luck in America, they were invited to the actor's hotel room after a party and had an all-night sex romp with Lancaster and his agent. Can't remember which twin was interviewed, but she was quite game about saying that Lancaster later said the sex was "less exciting than he had expected" (maybe that was her way of saying they were basically "good girls" and not sluts? LMAO ).
Do any of our German friends remember (have a copy of) that interview?

while “strolling” through the “Classic Celebs, Beauty & Elegance – area” I stumbled over this older question about the kessler twins.

I was also very interested in this item and so I made me on my way and just did some “detective work” or investigation.

As I also read about their autobiography „Eins und Eins ist Eins“ (1996) first of all I wanted to order it and try to find out if there is perhaps a “Burt Lancaster”- chapter in it but meanwhile I came across a german book of Werner Blattert called “Zwillingswelten” [The world(s) of twins] however only as an extraxt therefore some pages in between could be missing. One part of his “twin-project” by Blattert is – fortunately (!) - about the Kessler twins (pages 43 -65) because all of the other pairs of twins are not famous at all. And what is even more important in this case - in fact there is a “Burt Lancaster”- chapter in it because he also refers to their autobiography and – fortunately again – this was completely available (pages 49 – 52).

So I also made an effort and really did my best to translate this “special story” for all of the Kessler-twin fans !

In spite of finding an answer to your very special question without reading their autobiography I am going to order it anyway.

I hope you can appreciate my message(s) as you called all “german friends” in our forum for some help ...

Nevertheless if I should guess which twin has had this “bizarre” incident with Burt Lancaster I would have chosen Ellen because for example she is immediately ready for the playboy-shooting (1975) and she had to convince Alice to do it because she always was a little bit more shy in such cases.

Now, who goes with me and votes for Ellen or who thinks “still waters run deep” and would rather take Alice ?

Indeed it was Ellen.

In fact the twins must have broken their non-disclosure-agreement in the german talkshow “Beckmann” (08.11.2004) but I just found an article about it (I haven’t got a copy or clip of the talkshow itself).

I will read it as soon and as quick as possible and in case I will find some more interesting “facts” about them I will post it here for sure – maybe there are also some “new” photos we haven’t got here so far ...

As I promised I just read the autobiography of them and I must say I had a lot of fun with it !

I think these things are worth mentioning :

- Their premiere-critique at the Lido (Paris) was phenomenal. One newspaper wrote : “Each Kessler-twin has enough musik in her legs and such a sexy glance in order to dump a hole eskimo-clan from the sled !”
- Tony Curtis and Burt Lancaster very often got the brush-off by the kessler-twins so they called them “Ice-creams” – in return the twins called them “Hot-dogs”
- The Burt Lancaster story (see above in our forum)
- In 1958 Alice fell in love with an italian guy (“Mister Capri”) and she got pregnant – she had an abbortion in order to go on with her work at the Lido. The intervention without any narcosis was very hard for her to stand it and she nearly died subsequently. She was rescued by another surgeon in a hospital.
- On 11th July in 1961 they had a 1 hour flight with a real jet-fighter (training-typ T-33) on the military air-field in Fürstenfeldbruck (Bavaria in Germany). Before they had to participate in a special preparation programm for this adventure. Afterwards they were appointed as “military honours pilots” of the staff and they were very proud of it
- Both twins once suffered from hepatitis because of the consumption of some seafood in Naples (Italy). They weren’t able to work for about 6 months altogether.
- They also described their shooting for the italian playboy and – this was a mistake in the book – actually it must have taken place in autumn 1974 (and not 1975) because they appeared in the january-edition of the playboy in 1975 (and not 1976) on the occasion of the “international year of women”. They really enjoyed the shooting by their friend Angelo Frontoni.

Ok, there are lots of photos (also some very personal ones) in it too but I think we do just have the most exiting or thrilling ones here on the forum - namely their appearance in the italian playboy (Edition Jan 1975) ...

In my opinion one thing of the conversation was interesting to mention.

Topic of the discussion : Their relationship to men – what types of men they like etc.

In order to illustrate this Ellen told an anecdote about this theme and she emphasized that this story can NOT be foundin their autobiography „Eins und Eins ist Eins“ (1996) [One plus one equals one].

Ellen : “... there was a gay dancer at the Lido – his name was “Skippy” - and perhaps he was bi-sexual because I had an affair with him and I also fell in love with him. One evening Rock Hudson appeared in our show. Afterwards Hudson invited “Skippy” to join him for the evening and Skippy replied : “Yes, but I will bring my girl-friend with me” (this was me – Ellen).

As usual for a famous american film-star of course he had a big limousine with a chauffeur and so we went to a piano bar. I must say Hudson was really a beautiful person, he could listen carefully and we had a wonderful conversation. When we left the bar and were sitting in his “limo” Rock Hudson asked me : “Where can I bring you ?” and I answered : “Normally I wanted to go home with “Skippy” and he replied : “Not this evening !”

So you can say Hudson removed Ellen’s lover.

Alice added : “Rock Hudson never took a woman home ....Well, we always fell in love with gays because in this milieu – where we were raised - we were surrounded by gays in those days especially in this establishment at the Lido in Paris (only the owners of the Lido were not gay) – I always wanted to roll up them but it was impossible and our relationships with gays didn’t work at all ... “
