Just be aware of this little thing when using Imagevenue:
6. Will my image ever be deleted?
The storage period of your images on our server is unlimited. However, if your image has not been accessed for more than 1 year, it will be deleted from our server.

So in a year there will be a lot of posts with images missing
(This was the reason I started using Imagebam exclusively for posting here)

I would do it this way:

1. locate the posts you want to save.

2. Download as many as you can post by post, saving them on your harddrive, sorted in folders named with the number of the original post, so you can find this post later, when you will re-upload it to another host.

You find the number of the post in the url, when opening your post, by cklicking at the postcount number (at the right corner top of the post), to open it in a new window:

There are two numbers: The postcount (of the thread, in this case: 2207), which can be ignored, and the Nr. of the post which is unique for each post on the board, in the example: 4065315.

You will always find your post again, by replacing the nr. of the post in the url of any single post at VEF with the your post nr. (e.g. 4065315).

e.g.:

Replaced the number in the url with 4065315:

To download the images you can use jdownloader or the addon for firefox: Imagehost grabber. I'm not familiar with JDownloader, but Imagehost Grabber works fine.
Alternative you can use halvar's tool which he wrote especially for VEF and imagebam/imgbox. You will find it here

3. You can re-upload to another host like

imagevenue.com
pimpandhost.com
turboimagehost.com

I have the paid version of Bulk Image Downloader (BID) installed on my computer.

I click the post count number in the upper right corner to open the post/pics in a new window.

I then click open my BID and download all the pics on the page to a folder in my pictures library.

Then using Turbo Image Host I upload them from the library folder.

I then go to the page of my original post (hosted by Imgbox) and click the Edit button (Go Advanced) and delete the original pics/images and replace them with the Turbo Image Host uploaded images -- then click Save and the Imgbox pics are replaced with the Turbo Image Host pics.


I"m hoping that this process works because it seems to be a much quicker and simpler process.

If the uploaded images at turboimagehost are ok, then you can do it definitely this way.

I suggested first downloading and uploading later only because you have such a huge amount of posts. And if you only download it now and reupload it later, you can save more of your images.

That will work, but only till the 30th June, after which there will be nothing to download.

Deezer was telling you how to save stuff while you still can, and then upload them at your own pace, but to do that you have to know where they came from.

If you click the link that I provided and open any of the pics you will see that they now open with Turbo Image Host instead of Imgbox.

Well yes, but just save what you can, stuff that you want to save for posterity, you can't be sure turbo or any other host won't go belly up, but if you've got it saved, you can always re upload.

Yep, that's what rotobott meant. You can decide, if you download and reupload instantley or if you are only downloading until 30.06.2017.

In the first case you will maybe save a few hundreds of your posts in the second case you will save much more and you can upload them starting at 1.7.17.

If you have imgbox galleries, you can try to use this tool. Because instead of downloading the gallery, you can upload it to turboimagehost or pimpanhost, only coping the url of the urls of the thumbnail.
