Surely West Ham fans knew the sort of football Jabba the Manager prefers. Saw enough of it at Bolton.
The thing that impresses me most about Bale (Ouch that hurt) is his crossing. At pace he'll hit it low and accurately into the box. He'll rarely whack it behind.
On the subject of Ronaldo. I would never, ever want him in my team. I've never seen a pplayer exude such arrogance. Even in his early days at Utd. Ridiculous stepovers, posing, preening. He's so unlikeable I don't understand why anyone puts up with him, regardless of the number of goals he scores.

It'll be interesting, if he does return to see how he's matured. You can't fault his dedication - but unlike say, Bobby Charlton, his dedication isn't selfless.

Last time he was there MU had a remarkably good Dutch c/f. The relationship didn't last. He went off to Spanish football, exasperated by Ronaldo's self regard. Not that I'm suggesting anything, you understand? Just thinking out loud...

Copa Del Rey tonight after 80 minutes

Barca 0 Madrid 3 (2 goals for Ronaldo)

He came to United as a precocious fancy dan, and left as one of the hardest working wingers weve ever seen at OT.

You may not like him, but as a footballer he is 100% pure class.

With Allardyce possibly losing his employment status, I am just hoping there is a God.

A strange Red Card

Finally, with all the talk of the Gareth Bale Goal, this one at ST. James's Park, appears to have passed us by.

Not only a great goal but a reminder why Barry Davies was the finest football commentator of his era. I did and still do, dislike John Motson's commentary style.

Supermac. Shades of Crouch against Man. City last season. Fat Sam playing for Bolton.

I LOVE FOOTBALL.
Liked Motson when he first started, then his head began to swell and became rater boring. Wolstenholme, Davis and Johns were always favourites. Brian Moore was excellent on radio, but failed to live up to expectations on TV. Jimmy Hill used to drive me nuts.

I wonder how today's players would cope with those sort of pitches.

Highlights of the 1970 cup semi final at WHL in March of that year.
