jenny48549,
Not sure what has happened today but something did. I've been trying something Mr Inbetween (I think) suggested about running two versions of Firefox. Won't get into the reasons but I was running v. 24 and just downloaded and installed v 27.1 a few days ago. Things seemed to be going OK until today when, after being here earlier, I restarted v. 27 and my start page (not home page) was being redirected to someplace called test.com. Did a little checking and the site has all kinds of problems. Restarted FF 27 several times and it kept going to that site. Thought my home page had been changed but, as far as I could tell, it hadn't. After that I just deleted v. 27. Just started 24 a few minutes ago and it immediately updated to 27 (which it was not allowed to do as I'd set it up to not update. The profile was totally gone. This probably doesn't help you but maybe it does. Haven't had this happen before. As for the info you need: 1/ OS name & version. Win 7 2/ Browser name & version number. FF 24 and 27.1 3/ Location (country only). US 4/ full screenshot of the forum page that is loaded when the issue occurs, specifically we need to know which banners are showing, & which usernames & thread titles in the forums list. Sorry, didn't take one but I'm sure you can find the site. I went there every time I started up FF. Just be careful if you go there. Don't know why this happened, just know that it did and maybe this will be relevant to you. |

I'm not sure if this is related, but I have never had similar problems before. I'm using windows 7 XP. Firefox 27. O.1 Norway by the way. The last two days I have had problems with posting, and my edit console is somewhat screwed up and won't allow me to edit anything. I post or edit the page, but it posts something totally different! I've just posted in The Second World War thread, but it is totally different from the post that I actually posted! I edit the post, but then it simply reposts the old incorrect post! Nor will it allow me to delete it. I can find no problems with my PC at the moment.

The above post has again, posted in a completely different format to that that I wrote. No paragraph separation etc. Smilies are not working either!

Well, after much so**ing about, I have gone back to IE, that seems to be OK...for now. My post in the WWII thread was successfully edited etc. But I still cannot fathom out what was/is wrong with Firefox and the forum.

Curious as to why the tech people aren't asking for details of security suite in use since presumably this is what is doing the blocking/warning?
I have had no problems with this site using: Windows XP SP3 AVG 2013 Security Firefox 27 with noscript set to block everything and adblock plus I am usually on a ship or oil/gas platform around the UK and adjacent coasts of Europe and sometimes the Med and mainly use a mobile dongle when in range. Regards 40+

I am running Windows 7 SP1, Firefox 26.0 and am in the UK. As you can see from my screenshot, I was not logged in at the time. The usual bathing beauty and a couple of other elements are being blocked by Adblock custom filters. If it's of any use, I am running Adblock with EasyList and Fanboy's Social Blocking List filters. Scripting is enabled on the page. Ghostery found and blocked two trackers, Facebook Social Plugins and Google Analytics.

I would recommend installing something more powerful than MS Essentials. I personally use the Avast Internet Security Suite. It is pretty close to bulletproof. If you are not sure they have a good freeware you can try before you spend money on it.

My details - Windows O/S, Avast AV, Firefox, UK.
No problems coming onto VEF tonight. However, I would mention that since upgrading to the latest Firefox (27.01) I have had one or two issues with it crashing for no obvious reason. |
