As a true veteran, having had cameras shoved up/ down/ in every available orafice, by far the worst was having one shoved up my dick so they could look at my bladder. Extremely unpleasant and uncomfortable, not to mention leaking piss for weeks after.
As for endoscopy or colonoscopy, totally knocked out for both (does National Health have a ration on anesthesia?) so not unpleaseant, but ye Gods, the prep for the colonoscopy! A gallon of sports drink mixed with an entire jar of powdered laxative. Nearly vomiting chugging it down. I followed the directions to the letter and the Doc has the nerve to tell me I get a "B" grade on the prep. I felt like shitting all over his office at that point.

Seriously, Billybunter - try not to worry about it - they're not so bad, really. Worrying only makes it worse.

Have to be at a hospital miles from Belfast at 8.00am tomorrow Today I have to drink 7 pints of Klean Prep this is the most disgusting liquid i've ever tasted. I had to add orange squash because I couldn't drink it.
Tomorrow I have an Gastroscopy and a Colonoscopy. Bastards. And to make things worse, the Klean Prep isn't working.

After last weeks fiasco I finally had the endoscopy and colonoscopy. After signing my life away in I went and met an old Dr who was a jolly old bugger. I wasn't just as jolly. endoscopy first. Sprayed my throat put the gum shield in and...christ it was horrible. I gagged till I nearly passed out. Then the big one he said I could have sedation or try it without. I told him to do it without. It was OK, easier than the endoscopy. The only discomfort was tummy cramps caused by the air blown in to inflate the colon. I could watch it on the screen, but decided to do my relaxation techniques I learned from yoga instead. Then it was over
Results were 100% in the clear, and I got full marks for the prep. On the way home my stomach was in knots with cramps. Got the old man to stop a shop. Went in and bought some extra strong peppermints. 2mins later I was farting like blazing saddles and all the air had gone.

I've had the procedure performed four times due to severe bouts of diverticulitis. Finally had to have about fourteen inches of my intestines remmoved. But it's worth the discomfort to catch any serious problems early

I had the full colonoscopy. I was offered sedation, but said I would try without. It was OK.

I told my doctor to please make sure I'm unconscious before you started probing anything because if I wake up in the middle of something it isn't going to be a pleasant experience for either of us
