Why visit a dozen in London when you can visit just one in Salisbury?

Of course being from Russia and not being used to cold British March weather and there visit was totally ruined on the Saturday by a bit of slush so they had to return the next day to properly enjoy that 123m spire and clock.

As strangely there was no CCTV footage at all of this maybe they'll post all their treasured selfies of themselves living the dream at the Cathedral just to prove all those doubters wrong.

Unfortunately, everything said by these two sounds like total nonsense and the interview looks like something arranged out of desperation. I would have thought that they might have at least covered themselves by taking a few photographs in the right locations that made them look like tourists, collected a few souvenirs/guides and maybe visited a couple of pubs. Assuming they carried out this operation, they were either piss-poor at their jobs, or they simply thought they could do whatever they liked without detection.

On the other hand, I do wish that HMG had not tried to fabricate/enhance the details, as it seems these two were, after all, travelling under their real names and there is still no information about who they are. Nevertheless, I got the distinct impression that Putin was not too comfortable about the way things have developed.

Really? tourists who bother to find out the history of an historic, worldwide renowned cathedral city? Do we really look that stupid to the Russians. It is so obvious they have been told to learn about the place and then give their countrymen the impression that they were only there to visit -that's a bit likesomeone standing near a window sop front of jewellery with a brick in your hand and saying to a passing copper " well I'm waiting for a delivery and this is a sample they gave me!" OR " this geezer said hold this mate whilst I tie me shoelace, and he ran off leaving me holding it"

Methinks Putin's mob got them and told them to tell porkies!

The funny thing is that there is a wonderful English writer of ghost stories who this reminds me of, M.R. James.

He was a headmaster at Eton, a Biblical scholar, and on school holidays went visiting old gothic churches in Britain and the Continent. . . .

I suspect these Russian gentlemen are a bit less in the antiquarian line of entertainments.
