The truth doesn't care what your politics are and is often inconvenient for extremists of all stripes. I generally consider myself as liberal, but also am of the opinion that most of the PC crowd is in need of an enema. This treatment will likely require the use of firehoses as folks appear to be severely impacted.

Okay, I'll say it.
Okay, it may be too soon but I'll say the obvious
Headline : GOP lawmakers de-railed by a Trump-load of garbage. (Oh sorry, that should be "truck-load" of garbage) Couldn't resist the metaphor. |

Trump at the one year mark...
Politifacts on the truth or falsity of his claims in the state of the union address. That address includes a long of empty promises and lies that Polifacts didn't address. Note what Trump says about "clean coal." There actually is something called "clean coal" and it's very expensive and difficult to produce. When Trump talks about "clean coal," he's not talking about that stuff. To him, all coal is "clean coal." Trump’s State of the Union Address Was Filled With False Boasts and Empty Promises
We don't know much about Trump's proposals on Infrastructure because apparently he doesn't know much except that it sounds good in a speech to say he has some. And he must figure there's some way to shovel a lot of government money to him and the people with whom he does business. Trump's Infrastructure plan Trump saying something is "Worse than Watergate" pretty much guarantees that it isn't. Lucian Truscott says that what's going on with Trump and Obstruction of Justice is "Worse than Watergate" and he makes a good case that it is. Trump is engaged in a slow motion Saturday Night Massacre The effort to discredit the F.B.I. is so unprecedented and dangerous. It has to make a thinking person believe that Trump and his mob are terrified of what may come out about their self-dealing and double-dealing. “Unprecedented”: 9 historians on why Trump’s war with the FBI is so stunning It would not be a good idea to launch a military strike against North Korea. The reasons? Americans Must Reject Preventive War Against North Korea ... |

Anyway, Trump's repeated reference to "clean coal" has me thinking that he must have made some extensive investments in coal related enterprises. Since we don't have financial disclosures, we don't know for sure, but the Donald seems very committed to lining his own pocket while in office. Only the notion that he will personally profit from expanding the burning of coal provides a basis for his continually referencing the fantasy substance "clean coal.' We are also now to believe that is not really Trump on the Access Hollywood tape. I don't know about you guys, but I am finding Trump's assertions of no collusion with Russia increasingly dubious. Would you believe a toddler's claims of innocence when extensive crayon markings are found on your walls 2 feet from the floor? |

Well, to be fair, what "clean" coal means is burning coal in a way that effectively eliminates NOx, SOx and particulate emissions - this is possible and expensive. Of course the T-man's strategy is to eliminate emission standards and declare that coal now meets the standards so its clean. Another big lie from the biggest liar of all.
Of course, no matter what you do to cleanly burn coal, you're left with the CO2 emissions - you know the life giving gas that's poisonous at around 7% but 0.5% for several hours may be sufficient to demonstrate the Darwin effect. |

Time Magazine is reporting that the FBI began to treat Carter Page as a possible Russian agent after he bragged about his Kremlin contacts in a 2013 letter. In fact, Page basically admitted being in Russia's employ when interviewed by the FBI at that time. As had previously been reported the FBI requested a warrant to continue its surveillance of Page in 2016. Most of us would very much hope that the FBI would be monitoring a possible Russian agent on a presidential campaign staff.
http://time.com/5132126/carter-page-russia-2013-letter/ By the way, the Koch brothers bought a controlling interest in Time Magazine last year, changed editors, and have been moving its editorial policy to the right. For example, the January 29, 2018 issue contains an opinion piece by Rand Paul with effusive praise for Donald Trump's "accomplishments" in his first year of office. Time can no longer be lumped in with the liberal media. It is interesting a Rupert Murdoch owned paper broke the Stormy Daniels story and now a Koch Brothers magazine is blowing up the Nunes' memo. Is Trump starting to alarm his backers or is it simply part of the plan to dump him and install Pence in the Oval Office? Back to "clean coal" - the technologies proposed for "clean coal" will be very expensive. It should also be noted that they have not yet been implemented, so we can't be sure that the CO2 to be pumped underground will stay there. Rick Perry, Scott Pruitt and Trump plan to simply roll back all the environmental protections and are counting on the unqualified judges being rubber stamped by the Republican controlled Senate to sign off on this strategy. We hadn't been hearing a lot about acid rain lately with coal powered plants being replaced by natural gas fired plants.. The current 10,000 premature deaths per year caused by air pollution in the United States can be expected to increase again with these policy changes. In case there are any doubts about Trump's governing ideology, consider the day's news.

In 1999, Clinton is reputed to have told Sylvester Stallone this: "Sly, you'll be remembered for those wonderful Rocky and Rambo films. Me? I'll just be remembered for fucking ugly women". Probably bullshit. Just like Michael "Says Who?" Cohen paying Stormy Big Ds out of his own pocket. I'm sure he did. Then he invoiced Trump for 'services rendered'. |
