The first time i can recall ever going online, i was at a friend's house; who's also an occasional poster here; BobL; and he showed me some very nice images on a website called "Robb's" (oh my god, it's full of stars). Those of you who've been around a while will know exactly to which site I'm referring of course.......

That was around 1997 I would guess? And the rest, as they say, is history. All my celeb hunting had been of the paper/magazine format until then, and limited to both funds and availability in this country of course.

Not long after that, I finally managed to see the full set of The 'Aussie' Bunny Mag edition from May 1995......... points for knowing who was in that particularly popular issue..!!...lol.

First time I went online was Dec 1998 - first thing I looked for was the Austin Ambassador Owners Club

Their site was offline for repairs....

Anything and everything to do with one of these

A 1969 Ford Mustang, I needed a new engine mount for mine.

I was rebuilding one at the time and went looking at pictures also for ideas on what color too paint it and so on .

I go back to before the Net went public - when it was little more than a link allowing correspondence between various think-tanks and college research facilities. (The Rand Corp, CDC, CalTech. MIT etc.) I was the EIC of my colleges' science magazine and was attempting to contact a Professor at MIT to ask him a question regarding a paper he had published on quantum mechanics.

Fed up buying stuff in good faith via mail and being burned again and again with a lot of sub-standard rubbish I headed straight for a decent search engine to try and find resource sites or forums that would either have reviews or specific details of magazine content or films

Anything to take the blind fold off

In truth all i found was 1 search engine kanoodle that seemed to be partially useful for finding erotica

To put the search engines of that era into perspective...i was searching for Rachel Terkorst
Took 3 years till a search engine matched that to Rachel Ter Horst

1 forum (bgafd.co.uk)after about a year online that was actually what you'd call alive
and very useful because it was a mix of producers, performers & fans discussing topics
Very rare and something that really doesnt exist today in any meaningful way.

Not long after coming online Pop-up & Spam stopping software were a must have priority
If you didnt ever experience that periodaround 2000 you seriously will never understand how trivial todays popups, popunders etc really are

After all that you may have found 1 gem of a site occasionally
