Going to see Node on Friday, analogue synth heaven
It is said the kit they are bringing will be worth of the order of 1/2 million quid! |

ARP Odessey Reissue
Was rather surprised to see this reissue of what looks to be very faithful to the original (or what I recall from my foggy memories of).
Even the knob colors look right. Now if they MIDIzed it, could prove useful today. Its the US at Sweetwater dot com Tempting. Very cool piece. Last edited by Estreeter; February 26th, 2015 at 04:04 PM.. Reason: Image size and host |

Have decided, after more than three decades of wanting to, that I'm going to start piano lessons after the clocks change and the nights draw in. With that in mind I've bought myself an electric piano, that does a bit more than just make piano sounds (second hand Kurzweil PC3K8, because it has all the keys and also can make some of the classic Mellotron sounds - yes I'm easily pleased).
I have been advised that adult learners often get frustrated with the slow speed of progress, but I figure that the last six years of learning a foreign language and still not being able to understand TV programmes in that language without subtitles will have prepared me for that, at least to some extent! |

I've been practicing on a Casio SK-1, its basically a little more advanced toy keyboard, and have been thinking about purchasing this as my first real synthersizer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9iIHNVh36A I'm looking for something that's fairly cheap and have that vintage 80s sound and this synth seems like a good choice after looking trough ebay, anyone here who has experience with this synth and would recommend it for beginners? The synth demonstrated in this youtube-clip, the oberheim OB-Xa, would be my dream synth, but it unfortunately costs a fortune, this is basically porn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byxQ6aQRGis |

I've been having my eyes on the Roland D-50 and Yamaha DX7 too, since I live in Sweden though, its hard too find a DX7 without the expensive shipping on ebay it seems, the DX7 seems more rare to find cheap internationally. The Roland D-50 and Casio CZ-101 I found results with fairly cheap shipping to Sweden, I guess it depends on how much the synth weigh or how big it is. It really sucks that there isn't much vintage synth auctions inside my area here in Sweden or close by. Last edited by rikard838; February 24th, 2017 at 03:31 AM.. |

Finally managed to get my OB-12 back from the guy I flogged it to years ago when I was skint. It was slated by all when it was released as nobody could see beyond "It's not a real Oberheim". So what? It does stuff no other synth I've played can do & has a unique sound of it's own. Rare as Rocking Horse now so if you see one grab it.

Just bought myself a TB-03 which is Rolands repro of their famous 303. After a week I'm not quite of the standard of D.A.V.E the Drummer but I am more melodic than anything the Spice Girls ever released.
