A boy I went to school with was known as "Stubble" after a very severe haircut He once had,similarly someone I used to work with was briefly known as "Shirley" due to an ill-advised perm.

Back in the 1970s, when I was attending college, the rhythm guitarist in the band i was the bassist for dubbed me 'The Equestrian'. He never explained where he got it from and I never asked. But I liked it and have used it professionally ever since. Among my friends my nickname is 'Motts' (a variation on my last name)

I can't say my old nickname because of my privacy concerns. You see, I was given my nickname on my very first day at college, and I liked it so much that I held onto it until just about five years ago. For that reason (and the fact that it was a very specific, uncommon nick), anyone who's known me since 1985 would immediately know it was me typing this message.

Oh, and no, I'm not really a self-important jerk. But because of the amount of mainstream writing I do, I must admit I wouldn't want people to know that I LOVES ME SOME PORN! *cough* That is to say, I often work with many women for whom I have a great deal of respect, and if they saw my browsing habits, they might get the entirely incorrect notion that I was a sexist a-hole. There are very few ladies who can reconcile the simultaneous concepts of a guy loving porn, and the guy still respecting women.

Yeah, you can call me a coward. But business *sigh* comes first. The same reason I never post pics of my wife in the amateur threads, even though I think she's really hot. She too has a job that requires her to maintain a certain public decorum.

Mine has stuck with me since school and it was the lesser of many evils (all girls school!). I hated Latin and and Mr Grosvenor loathed me so somewhere deep inside I can still hear: "your translation is a catastrophe". Shortened to 'Cas', it gave me some common room kudos AND irritated my poor mother while I went through a long phase of not liking my first name.

Yeah and I sometimes introduce Mrs db to new business associates as the is 'the first Mrs db'....but she gets her own back on me afterwards......

I'm with you. My wife and I lived together for, geez, six years (wow) before we got married. As a result, I had a lot of trouble getting myself to stop accidentally referring to her as "my girlfriend". She started to lose patience with it, and one night before we arrived at a party she warned me in the car, "Don't you DARE call me your girlfriend tonight!" As soon as we arrived, I walked up to a friend and said, "Hey, I don't think I've introduced you two. This is my first wife, ________."

As I told the wife later, it did no good glaring at me like that. Looks can't actually kill. All it did was knock me unconscious for about twelve hours, so there!
