There will never be another Dan Rooney. He just didn't care about the team but the city of Pittsburgh as well. It says something about you when former players wanted to retire as a Steeler instead of the teams they played for after leaving Pittsburgh.

RIP from Steeler nation

Internet and computer pioneer Robert Taylor has passed away:

He helped to bring us the internet, personal computers, and the mouse which eventually led us to porn websites and learning how to surf the web with one hand in your pants.

The first time I heard of him was at the university where I attended a class about computer history and the early years of cybernetics. We were watching a documentary by German director Lutz Dammbeck called The Net from 2001. Robert Taylor has a guest appearance. He talks about his work on the ARPANET project and the original philosophy behind the internet. You can watch it here from about 8:35.

Default Emma Morano

The world's oldest person has died in Italy at the age of 117, reports say.

Emma Morano was born on 29 November 1899 in the Piedmont region of Italy. She was officially the last person born in the 1800s still living.

She had attributed her longevity to her genetics and a diet of three eggs a day, two of them raw.

Ms Morano was the oldest of eight siblings, all of whom she has outlived. She died at her home in the northern city of Verbania.

Her life not only spanned three centuries but also survived an abusive marriage, the loss of her only son and more than 90 Italian governments.

Bruce Langhorne
May 11, 1938 - April 14, 2017

American Musician

"The title character of Bob Dylan's song "Mr. Tambourine Man" was inspired by Mr. Langhorne, who used to play a large Turkish frame drum in performances and recordings. The drum, which Langhorne purchased in a music store in Greenwich Village, had small bells attached around its interior, giving it a jingling sound much like a tambourine."

I'd like to pay some respect to John. What a gun! He was so funny! We've definitely lost a great presence in Australian entertainment. He did so much.

Just one of many funny mock interviews he's known for. I think non Australians would even find such interviews on Australian politics, where you wouldn't know the context of the interview, funny as well.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vnuAh3esdpE

His documentary Sporting Nation was also a terrific viewing. I think it would even hold the interest of non Australians.

That hits deep.
I hope this year is better than last. We have lost so many real musicians in such a short time.
