What about animal intestines, would you eat those? They're traditionally/historically used in making sausage casings.

There's probably lots of traditional Australian (Aboriginal) foods that we might not like the thought of, e.g. various insects, etc.

Didn't TM just recently propose Australia should market its insects as cuisine to the world?

Some folks are aghast at the idea of eating dogs, cattle, pigs... no end of things.

You would be surprised at what you would eat after not being fed for a week or more.

And you live in the one country where that scenario is most likely to play out too...at least the 'someone pointed a gun at my head' bit.

It is true that if I was starving I would eat anything. As to what is used for sausage casings, now one really knows here what is used for that. It is mostly true that if one is eating something and they find they like it, and then they find out that it is made with something unpleasant, they right away are shocked and often spit out what they have in their mouth at the time and won't eat anymore.

I used to think like that, but then one day it occurred to me that I'd never actually been offered the chance to say 'I'll pass'

Edible collagen I think, although our butcher still uses your actual animal intestines for his gourmet snags.

I was driving in the Highlands once when this huge hairy kilted Scotsman lept out in front of the car. I stopped and he pulled me out of the car and thrust an earthenware jar into my hands. 'Drink' he said and when I refused he shoved a shotgun into my chest.
'Drink' he said again and this time with one eye on the gun I took a large slurp. It was vile, it was disgusting it was the worst moonshine whiskey I had ever tasted.
This man then ordered me to drink again. I remonstrated with him but he and the shotgun were a pretty powerful combination. A large slurp followed.
'What do you think of my homemade whiskey' he asked . I told him it was the worst thing I'd ever tasted.
'Well' sez he 'You won't mind holding the gun on me whilst I have a drink'.

Haggis doesn't sound like something you should eat.

Who cares what the casing is made of. If you like the food item, eat it.
