I'd second the idea of "Truecrypt"
Its killer feature is the idea of "hidden volumes". Forensic guys can tell when data's been encrypted, this gets around that. You create an "outer" volume, either a big file or an entirely encrypted USB drive, encrypt it with a passphrase and copy some stuff over to it, a few pirated movies or the last season of MASH for example. Stuff that you'd have a legit reason for wanting to encrypt but you don't really care if anyone finds it.
Then you create an "inner" encrypted volume on the outer volume, the inner volume has its own passphrase. You store the really sensitive stuff on the inner volume.
If your system is examined by computer forensic guys and if you're ever in a position where you're forced to hand over the encryption keys, the UK police don't even need a warrant to demand this now, you give them the passphrase for the outer volume, job done. They won't be able to detect the presence of the inner volume let alone see what's on it and you have plausible deniability, "Hey that's an entire season of MASH and I read about you guys coming down on pirates all the time."

Man I pity you people having to hide your porn. I have calenders of naked girls hanging in my bedroom which I get every year as a Christmas present. And I live with my grandma ! LOL

I probably have around 3500 dvds of which maybe 10% is classic porn. My biggest fear is that my collection gets thrown out with the thrash or gets sold in pieces instead of being handed over to a another collector when I die.

Why bother collecting porn at all?
I mean, in days of yore, porn was hard to come by and we hoarded it like it was gold dust. But now, there's tons of the stuff on the net, why the need to hoard it?

Mines on my PC .... backed up ... with passwords etc... my wife ... infact most of family have problems getting into there computer .. let alone crack a password... anyway .,,,, I have a shred program .. and a bloody huge hammer ...

I don't see any problems. After all I'm dead so I'm not going to be embarrassed, as many have already pointed out. And I've never had a reputation for being a 'clean living conventional orthodox' type of person so whatever memory I leave is unlikely to be diminished.

My wife knows all about my enthusiasm for porn and would expect to find it on my pc and on my backups. She doesn't share an interest in porn, but has no problems with it at all. I keep telling her it's like olives, you don't fancy them all until you find the kind you like, but she just says she has more than enough things to interest her already. Which is true, we enjoy each other because we're both interested in lots of things, together and separately.

I've never had enough spare cash to collect porn on bought tape or dvd as I usually prefer to buy books and records with whatever free money I have, so apart from a stack of 1960s/70s magazines bought in my youth I have nothing of any possible cash-value that could be passed on or sold.

It does concern me that unthinking survivors will simply dump potentially valuable collections, but in reality that has been the case with almost all collecting of anything, as value (in any sense) is rarely understood by anyone not interested themselves. I could tell stories about the disposal of book collections that would horrify anyone.

I'm concerned most about my parent's reaction should I pass away. They know I do nude photography, so they will expect to see those kinds of photos on my computer, and I often leave printed photos lying around too. Maybe they will think all the ladies are girlfriends. Dad will be proud, and mom shocked. :-)

If you're worried about the UK police you should worry more about your pirate copies of MASH than about your porn, pirate videos are illegal & can be prosecuted, if your porn is "mainstream" (consenting adults) then you won't be prosecuted in the UK, if all your porn would be OK under VEF rules then you'll be OK, the police know most people have porn, I've heard a police officer say, not entirely jokingly that when they search a house they know they haven't searched properly until they find the porn.

my coll, 5 (banana)boxes w zines,normal to bizarre.
box full of discs is much worse..(lots hardly readable,luckily)from all kinds of teens,to beastiality(old & new)to some Hisayasu Sato movies that might be seen as snuff..
(in the Guinea pig/red Room/seppuku rituals videos..vein)

anyway,they'll toss it in a dumpster,if they're lucky someone else finds it & makes a fortune on ebay or wanks himself into oblivion..

on family-side, only 3 brothers who might like some of it. Sister wouldn't really raise an eyebrow since she stayed here awhile.

advice: scan everything or give em/sell em to someone who can

same w vhs/super8 & other ancient storage ways(i actually thought of copying everything from floppy disks at one time,lots of early internet bbs stuff,but wtf)

thx to Rogerleon & others i only have dvd-r(artwork online,hope VEF never gets offline

& a HD full. (some movies & music on it as well..in my defence)

put it in your will!!
