Whilst I see the OPs point, I see things a little differently. Some of the reasons are environmantal.

Fundamentally, I think the internet has spoilt US ALL and this very excellent forum illustrates this perfectly. When it became legal for me to have sex (& buy porn), it was in the middle of Thatcher's Britain and when Sullivan was at the height of his powers. Getting "anything decent" porn-wise was both difficult and expensive; at lesast £10 for a secondhand KKK magazine and £30 for a VHS film.

Today, like many here, having ditched material in house-moves etc, it just takes a minute to find out via yurmag/jobbydealer which were the cherished items I once owned. More often than not, I can find a digital download easily and freely: it astonishes me that all but 4 of the first 100 Private magazines can be found and moreso that some people think they have a right to a complete digital collection.

None of this power prevents me from dropping into Shudehill books in Manchester or checking out xhammer should I feel I need a physical copy of something. And, if I avoid yurmag, which serves a purpose, though is expensive, I am almost certain that the price in real terms will be less than the equivalent back in the eighties.

My rant over.

On a more positive note, I wish all at VEF all the best for 2009 and I will try and contribute more to the discussions and debate.

I knew that the reviled American outfitof the Ku Klux Klan had fingers in many a dodgy pie, but I never realised that they were active participants in the British magazine porn business of the 1980s.
Lynchings and dildo penetrations, (although their claim was 'motherhood and apple pie'), a somewhat strange combo don't you think?
